Useful stayer for Karl Burke on the Flat and won at the first time of asking over hurdles at Ffos Las, although that form not strong. Ran to a similar level on two subsequent starts and although he handles cut, needs to improve again here.

No win machine, as a record of 4 wins from 40 starts shows, but did pop his head in front at Stratford in a selling hurdle in April and purchased by current connections afterwards. Interesting jockey booking (rider knows horse well) and not discounted if bouncing back from poor effort last time.

Won a couple of handicap chases for Gary Moore back in 2015 but no joy for this yard in three starts and connections now go for tongue tie and headgear to turn his fortunes around. Looks too risky in current form, although well treated if he can refind some.

Backed off the boards to come good at Stratford last week and although he idled once hitting the front, never looked in danger of defeat. Connections getting him out quickly under the penalty, but drop back in trip not necessarily a plus, and may need rain to stay away.

Only the two wins for Shane Donohue in Ireland but has ability, and new yard very good at finding improvement in others castoffs. Handles cut, so won't mind rain, alnd although further may suit, any money for him needs noting carefully.

Had given notice his turn wasn't far away when second here in early June and duly won here next time out. 4lb higher here and does tend to save his best for Sam Twiston-Davies, so questions to answer, especially over this trip.

Infrequent winner and as many poor runs as good ones, but throws in the odd good run from time to time and his second to Cillians Well at Stratford last week reads well enough. No certainly to repeat the trick, however, and other shold stronger claims.

Forecasts

Theo (11/8), Cillian's Well (2/1), Jigsaw Financial (7/1), Anton Dolin (15/2), Sporty Yankee (16/1), Astrum (25/1), Vision Des Champs (50/1)

Cillian's Well did it well enough at Stratford last week when the money was down, and he's got an obvious chance if in the same form here. But there must be a chance that any rain that's around has got into the ground by now, and a chance is taken on THEO to upset the applecart. A winner twice in Ireland, he's having his first run for Dr Newland here and the yard get enough winners from other yards at the first time of asking to make the risk worthwhile. Astrum is hard to win with but may be best of the rest.
  1. Theo
  2. Cillian's Well
  3. Astrum
