Had a good end to last year winning three of his four starts but failed to back-up a good reappearance run on the AW at Newcastle when running poorly at Ayr last time. Very much the type to bounce back from that sort run but is still 3lb above his highest winning mark.

A Redcar winner over 7f at the backend of last year he failed to show much on his reappearance at Newcastle on the AW dropped back to 6f (trip looked too short) when well backed. Although he has won at this trip he looks suited by further and the 6f trip must be a concern again.

C&D winner who is more that capable on his day but often promises more than he delivers. Proved that point when second at Lingfield in April but has failed to build on that since and his inconsistency will always be a worry despite having won off higher marks in the past.

Looks incredibly well handicapped if he can find any sort of form having won off a mark of 95 in the past. Has failed to fire on the AW this year (suggested he retains ability on a couple of occasions) and might just be worth watching in the market down in trip and back on turf.

Showed best form last year over this trip with back-to-back handicap wins at Ripon and at this track off lower marks. Has shaped well on his last two starts (wore blinkers both times) when taking the runner-up slot at Hamilton and looks competitive still off this mark.

Last two wins have come on the AW over 6f (tongue-tie on both times) and looks as though he remains in good form despite the fact that he's not won on turf for nearly three years now. Looks likely to run a solid race but handicapper could well be in control off this mark.

All his best form has come on straight tracks and he looked back to his best last time out over 5f here and that win leaves him 3lb below his highest winning mark. That was a rare try over the minimum trip and he should still be competitive back over 6f.

Wide draw not sure to be that helpful as she returns to 6f with a tongue-tie on for the first time and this trip would look to be her best. 7f looked to stretch her last time and back at this trip better is expected on her second run for this yard.

From a stable that are going well this three-year-old showed up well on his handicap debut over 6f at Hamilton (failed to gain clear run). Looks reasonably treated off this mark (69) and should be capable of winning a handicap off this mark and holds two subsequent quick entries.

Dual nursery winner last year when with Kristin Stubbs over 6f. Has looked as though she's getting back to some sort of form of late but may need some further help from the handicapper yet to have a winning chance.

Winner of a Ripon maiden over 6f in September he got off the mark in handicaps when taking a 6f contest at Thirsk last time. May well have been shown to best advantage with where he raced (advantage with those drawn low) but hasn't got many miles on the clock and could well build on that run.

Finally off the mark at the end of last season when he was a standout at the weights over 6f at Redcar off a mark of 56. Shaped quite nicely in two runs so far this year shaping as though he retains all his ability and may well be worth looking at here off a mark of 59.

Now in the veteran stage he's not the horse he was and is now operating some 20lb below his peak level. Offered very little when returning to the course recently at Thirsk and can only be watched here after that display.

Still a maiden after eight attempts she returns to handicaps after running in a maiden last time out after six months off. Likely to be sharper for that run and now 5lb lower than when last running in a handicap.

15:00 Carlisle - 19 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A competitive sprint handicap for the grade with a fair few that can be given a chance with the three-year-old contingent probably having the most improvement left in them. Uncle Charlie looks to be one of that group that can improve along with Roys Dream although the best chance would be held by HEE HAW who is lightly raced and looked slightly unfortunate last time out. Of the older contingent Exotic Guest will enjoy a return to 6f and Questo has the look of one who could be ready to win soon. Newstead Abbey is dangerously well handicapped if the old flame still burns bright while Portland Street deserves lots of credit for his consistency.

  3. Portland Street
