Beck Handicap

Has been reasonably consistent in defeat in five runs in maiden company and now goes handicapping from a mark that we know he is worth. Trip and ground both suit and he can give a good account, though is also clearly vulnerable.

Has been improving in maidens and made the frame at Lingfield (1m2f, AW) last time. Mark looks reasonable, if not a giveaway for this handicap debut, but given how he has been performing there may well be more to come.

Improved for his Newbury debut to land a Chelmsford maiden (1m, AW) last time. Stepped up in trip now for this handicap debut and could improve enough to remain very competitive.

Reappeared with a 7f Wolverhampton maiden win in March, but comfortably held in three subsequent handicaps and has now dropped a total of 6lb going into this. Step up in trip looks a positive move and if the application of blinkers is a similar plus then he would looks a serious player.

Exposed performer, who won a Nottingham handicap over this trip and on good to form in April from a mark of 68. Well beaten when stepped up to this grade last time out and from the same mark he will need to improve to win this.

Placed in all three maiden runs from 1m-1m3½f. Was a shade disappointing as odds-on favourite over the latter trip at Yarmouth last time, so the drop back to this distance may help. Has a question or two to answer now on his handicap debut from a mark of 73.

Has been improving steadily and put in his best effort yet when back over this trip at Nottiingham last time (good), being beaten just a neck. Raised 3lb for that, but you couldn't rule out another stride forward.

Well beaten in all four maidens but reappeared at Haydock last month (1m2f, good to firm) with a win. This a tougher contest and the form of that race is not more than solid, so from 5lb higher he will need to improve to remain competitive.
