200/1
Cost a mere £700 and was always detached in last after a slow start on debut at Lingfield (1m3f+) last month. Faces an impossible task on these terms against predominately younger rivals.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Rob Hornby| T: Mrs N S Evans| OR:  68
12/1
Dual hurdles winner with plenty of experience (22 career starts), but only mid-division in a Class 5 C&D handicap early last month and this is considerably stronger.

Nothing to glean from her two starts so far other than that she appears to be a slow starter. Could come on for her seasonal reappearance last month, but in all honesty is unlikely to figure in the frame based upon what we've witnessed.

400,000 gns yearling Galileo filly who was a shade disappointing when beaten 5L by Utopian Dream over 1m5f+ at Chelmsford early last month. However, her previous form was solid enough and she would appear likely to be suited by this kind of trip, so has to make the shortlist.

Unraced Lope De Vega filly out of Shemissa who cost 50,000 gns as a yearling. Eleventh foal and a half-sister to six winners including Shediak, Shehira and Shemidari.

Readily outpaced on her debut at this track in early May (1m2f) and bred to stay, so no surprise to see her immediately upped in trip. Likely to improve with time but doesn't look an obvious candidate for tonight.

So Sleek18
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Josephine Gordon| T: L M Cumani| OR:  80| BF
6/5
Lawman filly who is a half-sister to Silk Sari, Dreamlike and Fashion Fund, and whose dam So Silk is a half-sister to Racing Post Trophy winner Ibn Khaldun which explains her 450,000 gns yearling price. However, she is looking expensive enough after four outings, and was beaten at odds of 4/6f by Perfect In Pink (Sure To Explore fourth, Franny Nisbet seventh) at Leicester latest.

One place, but 12L behind So Sleek on debut at Leicester late last month (1m4f good to soft). Entitled to improve, but needs to and her trainer also saddles Franny Nisbet.

Despite stepping up gradually in trip has shown similar tendencies in all four of her career starts since late April, and she appears to get going all too late to get involved. It's feasible that this Rip Van Winkle filly is just relatively slow, and to that end, dropping back 2F in trip on drying ground is unlikely to suit.

Forecasts

So Sleek (6/5), Inconceivable (11/8), Frosting (4/1), Sure To Explore (10/1), What A Scorcher (12/1), Infanta Isabella (16/1), Tenby Two (20/1), Franny Nisbet (50/1), Maitresse (50/1), Ruby Taylor (200/1)

18:25 Chepstow - 16 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Punters fingers have been burnt with the odds-on defeats of So Sleek and INCONCEIVABLE on their most recent starts at Leicester and Chelmsford respectively, but connections will also be becoming increasingly exasperated that these expensively acquired yearlings are yet to break their maiden tags. The former has the measure of a couple of these rivals, and the excellent Josephine Gordon booked to ride, but narrow preference is for the Ralph Beckett trained runner in the hope that a trip of almost 1m6f was just beyond her at Chelmsford, and that this more galloping 1m4f will suit her better.
  1. Inconceivable
  2. So Sleek
  3. Infanta Isabella
