Comes here in cracking form having won successive races over similar trips at Newcastle in the autumn and the picking up the thread again with success at Wolverhampton on his reappearance last week. Had a fair bit in hand there and a 6lb penalty may not be sufficient to stop him.

Another hat-trick seeker, although in his case he won a Bangor hurdle (2m½f, good to soft) followed by a 16L win here over 1m6f last time (soft). A 6lb penalty for that looks within his compass, although it is some time since he won from a mark of 70, so some caution is advised. Has a C&D win to his name.

Sole success was recorded at Newcastle (1m2f, AW) a year or so ago from 2lb higher. Looked to be coming back to form when last seen at Wetherby (1m2f, soft) in first-time cheek pieces. They are retained here for this step back up in trip and he could get more closely involved again.

A third runner in the field who is chasing a hat-trick of wins, having scored at Newcastle (2m½f, AW and 1m4½f, AW) on his last two outings. Goes into this 9lb higher than the latter and a race run to emphasise stamina would clearly suit him. Yet to produce his best with cut in the ground, however.

Both wins have come on good ground, the most recent over 1m4f at Thirsk in April. 3lb higher today and cheek pieces added this time, but has been found wanting from this mark on his last two runs.

Won here on soft last year from a mark of 64 (1m2f) but had his chance when joint-favourite back on that mark at Wetherby last time (1m2f, soft) and was beaten over 8L. Had gone okay over this trip prior to that and is still less exposed over this far, so is worth another try and probably has each-way claims.

Won twice last month over 1m4f, at Brighton (good to firm) and from 3lb higher than that at Leicester (good to soft). Creditable effort again last time at Yarmouth, but now up 6lb and needs to find something extra.

Going on for three years now since he last won, with both successes being on sound/fast ground. Has now dropped 15lb in five starts since joining this trainer, which looks interesting, especially with the step back up in trip. Market check advised.

Loves it both here and at Hamilton, his last win coming at this venue over C&D (good) a couple of years ago. Now 19lb lower and ran well from 11lb higher again here last August. Goes on any ground, but recent form has just been so moderate that it looks risky backing him despite the apparent good mark.

0-10 so far and has not threatened to make the frame on more than a couple of occasions. Impossible to recommend from out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Lugano (1/1), Zenafire (9/2), Suitor (9/1), Lopito de Vega (11/1), Albert Boy (14/1), Melabi (14/1), Up Ten Down Two (20/1), Danzella (25/1), Inspector Norse (33/1), King Of Paradise (50/1)

18:05 Haydock - 15 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Inspector Norse has the look of a project that may not now be long in coming to fruition for Tim Easterby, so a market check is very much advised regarding the six-year-old, while Zenafire is clearly in cracking form and is respected. Lopito De Vega has each-way claims, while a win for Suitor would not be the biggest shock of the season. Up Ten Down Two has to prove himself in these conditions and preference is for LUGANO, who looked to have enough in hand last time to defy a penalty.
  1. Lugano
  2. Zenafire
  3. Lopito de Vega
