Narrowly denied at Leicester last time and while she's still low-mileage, she has taken a 5lb hike in the weights for that effort. Yard going well and a dangerous one to gift an easy lead to, but that scenario looks unlikely with plenty of pace in the contest.
Has run to a similar level on both his starts this season but needs to find some improvement if he's to make his presence felt here. Trainer has a good record when teaming up with this jockey around here (17.69%) and first-time cheekpieces could help; interesting runner.
Best efforts have come over 6f and unplaced on three starts over 7f+. Only just caught at Carlisle last time, due to go up further in the weights for that effort when assessor has his say and likely to give another good account, but nagging doubt remains over the trip.
Was runner-up twice over 1m in maidens on good-good to firm ground before getting off the mark over 6f at Nottingham last time. Handicapper keeps him on the same mark for his debut in this sphere and with the trip not a problem, he's a likely player, but yard form is a concern.
C&D winner towards the end of last year but form of that race nothing to write home about and she has disappointed in two efforts this time around. Questions to answer for now.
Ran well when making the frame at Doncaster (6f, good) and York (7f, good to firm) last summer but he has been in the grip of the assessor in two attempts in handicaps. Further 2lb drop since his reappearance defeat at Yarmouth won't harm, but has a fair bit to prove.
Some promise in a couple of his two-year-old outings but well beaten on both starts for this yard and handicap mark looks harsh at present. Entitled to come on for his most recent run at least.
Yet to score in six attempts but went close last time at Musselburgh on first start over this trip and entitled to come on for that effort having previously not been seen since October. Jockey rides this course well and has a 25% strike-rate when teaming up with this trainer around here. Plenty in her favour.
Forecasts
Rely On Me (3/1), Storm Cry (7/2), Merlin (4/1), Falbon (9/2), Brogan (9/1), Vaulted (10/1), Captain Hawk (20/1), Used To Be (25/1)
There was enough promise in VAULTED's first attempt at this trip to suggest that this could suit her better than the sprint assignments she has tried so far and she ought to come on for that effort. Merlin won't mind the step up in trip while Rely On Me went close last time and represents a yard in form.
