Yet to win from four attempts in this grade but beaten less than 1L at Chester a couple of years ago. Handles soft ground fine, though best form on a sound surface and he needs to improve on the best he has produced to win at these weights.

All of his wins have been on good or good to firm ground and although he has run well enough with cut in the ground there would have to be a bit of concern that he can produce his best here. Having said that, the form of his Group Two Temple Stakes fourth over C&D last time is very good in context and he looks a leading contender.

Has 5lb to find with his stablemate on the weights here and his trainer will have the line on whether he can bridge that gap. Very much a 5f specialist who is at home with cut in the ground and twice a winner at this level. May be able to do better today than on his first two starts of the campaign.

Sole win came in a Ripon maiden over this trip (good) almost two years ago, when he was also runner-up in the Group Two Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster (5f, good). Finished just 1L behind Brando (6f, good to firm) at Newmarket on his reappearance and then 3L behind Marsha last time, both in Group Threes, so should go well. Handles good to soft.

Won a decent handicap over C&D (soft) in September, but his form in three runs this time around has not reached the levels he was achieving last year and he has plenty to find with a few of these. Others preferred.

Put together back-to-back wins over 5f at Hamilton (soft) and 6f at Ripon (good to firm) 13 months ago, but raced only once more last season, in the autumn. Well beaten both starts this term, including in Listed company at Bath (5f, firm) last time and not easy to make a strong case for her on recent evidence.

Good strike rate with 3-8 so far, all wins being over this trip (good to firm and good to soft). Won first time back at Nottingham this season and then took a big step forward when runner-up in her first try at this level in the Westow Stakes at York (5f, good to soft) last month. Improving, unexposed and could trouble the best of these.

Won a 6f maiden here (good) on her second start in September and then added the Listed Doncaster Stakes to her CV (6f, good) next time. Last of 10 and beaten 19½L in Group Three company at Ascot on her reappearance, but this is more her level, though she does have a little bit to prove over this trip against some specialists.

Forecasts

Final Venture (9/4), Kyllang Rock (5/2), Ornate (7/2), Gorane (6/1), Soie D'leau (9/1), Rosie Briar (14/1), Monsieur Joe (14/1), Glenrowan Rose (22/1), Canny Kool (33/1)

19:25 Haydock - 9 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Final Venture's recent C&D run in the Group Two Temple Stakes is probably the best recent form on offer here and he should again give a very good account at this level, while stablemate Monsieur Joe has trip and ground to suit and is not taken on lightly. Ornate has put together some very respectable form, while Gorane could turn up and give them all plenty to think about from the front over this shorter trip. However, KYLLANG ROCK took a significant step forward last time and looks open to as much improvement as any of these, so he is the suggestion in conditions that we know he also handles.
  1. Kyllang Rock
  2. Final Venture
  3. Gorane
