Cape Cross gelding whose dam was a half-sister to a Group Three winner. 25-1 on debut when stable was in tremendous form and beaten 7½L fifth of 10 (1m, good to firm) at Newbury. Kept to this trip for a second run and should be capable of improvement, though likely to do better over a bit further.

Improved for his first start when tried for a second time over 7f in a Newcastle maiden last time. Half-brother to two winners over 1m and dam an unraced half-sister to 1m2f Group One winner, so this step up in trip ought to suit. Stable in decent form and could take another step forward this time.

Best effort so far three maidens was his ¾L second over this trip at Chelmsford (AW) in April, but was a big disappointment when sent off favourite over 1m2f (good) at Warwick last time, after being coltish in the preliminaries and drifting in the market. Drops back in trip with cheek pieces on now and looks capable if his mind is on the job.

€50,000 yearling who went for just 7,500 gns as a juvenile. Half-brother to five winners, including thorough stayer Leg Spinner and two others over this trip. Yard not noted for its debut winners on the Flat and he looks best watched on this introductory outing.

Half-sister to three winners, including a smart 1m winner and it was no surprise that she made the frame on her debut when sent off 4-1 for a 7½f maiden (good) at Beverley on debut. Can build on that today and if sire has any significant influence then she should act with cut in the ground. Interesting.

Forecasts

Liquid Gold (11/8), Bob Maxwell (10/3), Highland Cradle (10/3), Anif (9/2), Fiendish (5/1), Kings Will Dream (33/1)

16:30 Ripon - 8 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Highland Cradle might provide the answer here, though he won't be much of a price to do so and he clearly carries risks after his latest outing. Fiendish is again likely to get competitive, while Anif can improve for his debut. The same can be said of LIQUID GOLD, whose Beverley form may not be red hot, but who showed a good attitude there and on ground that could suit, she may represent better value.
  1. Liquid Gold
  2. Highland Cradle
  3. Fiendish
