Looked unlucky at Musselburgh a month ago but has run below that form in both starts since. Goes well around here and handles some cut.

Due to go down 2lb in future handicaps. Yard will be encouraged to come here for the easy ground and stiff finish that evidently suited when scoring at Beveley last term. Has not worn any headgear in either start this year and a new combination is fitted tonight.

Had been struggling in handicaps prior to making the frame under a positive ride when dropped into a seller last time. Remains a long way below the form she showed last year and hard to fancy despite this course producing some of her better efforts.

Record of 4-46 on turf with all of those wins coming with some give in the ground. Below his last successful mark and should be approaching his peak following two runs back from a break. Reunited with rider who has been on board for his last three victories.

Winner on soft ground at Thirsk last year but form took a significant turn for the worse subsequently. A change of scenery has not helped and the hood worn this term is removed. Hard to fancy at present.

Well beaten on both starts this term and, although it would be easy to make excuses, it will take a giant leap forward for him to land this. Tongue-tie now added.

Record of 2-40 tells it's own story. Back up in trip after finding trouble last time and previously being poorly drawn at Thirsk. Finished clear of those who ended up on the stands side there and has place claims here with the stiff finish expected to suit.

Six-race maiden who is beginning to look moderate. Has faded in the closing stages in all his races and this stiff finish will probably find him out. Races from a mark 5lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Crazy Tornado (11/4), Cool Strutter (7/2), Popsies Joy (4/1), Fidelma Moon (5/1), Reinforced (9/1), Off The Scale (12/1), Mitchum (14/1), Lukoutoldmakezebak (25/1)

21:20 Carlisle - 8 June 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A tricky finale in which Mitchum has a more obvious chance than his form figures suggest. Two runs back from an absence, perfect conditions, an attractive weight and a jockey who gets the best from him are all reasons to be optimistic. Although a big run is anticipated, POPSIES JOY is marginally preferred. Her sole success came in 2016 following two runs back from a winter break. Tim Easterby's filly finished a fair fifth at Beverley last time and her headgear goes back on. This stiff track plays to her strengths and off a good mark she can take this. Cool Strutter and Crazy Tornado look the pick of the rest.
  1. Popsies Joy
  2. Mitchum
  3. Cool Strutter
