A Sea The Stars filly and half-sister to Group 3 winner Star Storm, she makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. She won well on her seasonal return at Chelmsford but was way below par when upped to 1m4f at Goodwood earlier this month. Today's drop back to 10f is in her favour but she does have a little to prove.

Cost 260,000 gns as a yearling, she made stealthy progress as a juvenile. Posted a respectable effort when sixth in a fillies only Listed race at Doncaster when last seen out and will be a major player if she can build on that here. Cut in the ground won't inconvenience this daughter of Fastnet Rock either.

The most exposed runner in the line up and arguably has the most to find. Her last win came in a handicap from a mark of 84, which would be well below the standard of previous winners of this race, such as Timepiece and Secret Gesture. Others readily preferred.

A half-sister to useful sprinter Cotai Glory she has speed in her make-up, but being being by Authorized, and having won her maiden over 1m, it's very feasible that 10f should be well within her compass. She proved she has trained on when second on her seasonal return at Ascot earlier this month, and may well find more now her stamina is being tapped for more effort.

Regally bred and has a solid profile on the racecourse to back up her claims. She confirmed her well being with a determined effort to win over 9f at Newmarket three weeks ago and should be primed and ready for this return to Listed class. Leading contender but is yet to race on ground softer than firm.

Made good progress but may have already peaked as her effort when third at Ascot has to go down as a little disappointing. (She has a bit to find with Permission on a literal reading of that effort.) The fitting of a hood may help her stay focused back over 10f but she is another that will see her chances blunted by any rain.

C&D winner during her time with Luca Cumani and had excuses last time out, as she met trouble in running at a crucial stage in the Magnolia Stakes at Kempton. She is yet to make the frame at this level but her yard is flying just now, so it would be dangerous to assume she has already hit the buffers. One to bear in mind for a place at least.

Won her maiden on good to soft at Newmarket last year and went close when upped to this grade at Sandown next time out. Not seen since a disappointing effort in the Rosemary Stakes back at HQ last September, she needs to prove her well being and ability over this new trip. Probably best watched.

Forecasts

Playful Sound (13/8), Entsar (7/2), Very Dashing (6/1), Permission (8/1), More Mischief (10/1), Wilamina (11/1), Alf Guineas (14/1), Chinoiseries (14/1), Singyoursong (16/1), Lucy The Painter (16/1)

The state of the ground will be the key to this and, with an unsettled forecast, it may pay to look for one that can cope with a bit of give underfoot. MORE MISCHIEF fits that profile and gets the nod as a value option in a pretty open renewal. The selection has been placed twice at this level and, as she goes well fresh, she can give us a good run for the money. It's also worth noting that favourites don't have a particularly healthy record in this particular race, so only cramped odds being available about the consistent Playful Sound would also bolster the theory to look elsewhere for a win only option. Sir Michael Stoute's filly has yet to encounter cut in the ground so there is an element to guesswork involved if the heavens open. Very Dashing has gone well here in the past and, along with Entsar completes the shortlist for contention.
  1. More Mischief
  2. Playful Sound
  3. Very Dashing
