Won a course maiden hunters chase (2m5f) by 12L in May 2016, and has worked his way back to form in Point-to-Points and hunters chases this year. Idled when winning at Towcester earlier this month over a slightly shorter trip on faster ground and wouldn't want to repeat that trick up this long run-in.
A reliable sort over the years, and good enough to win three times in bumpers for Peter Bowen in 2013. A classy recruit to this company and has won nine times in Point-to-Points or hunters chases, including this race in 2016. A winner over 3m3f at Fontwell just under a fortnight ago and looks a live contender.
Has a 50% record in Point-to-Point company (4/8) and won his latest start between the flags by 15L (only beat two rivals when odds-on favourite). Struggled back under rules at Perth recently (made mistakes) and these fences come fast and quick in places, so looks vulnerable.
Found a new lease of life this spring, with placed efforts at Corbridge and Friars Haugh, prior to a recent double at Friars Haugh (3m2f) and Heslaker (3m). However, finished down the field in a maiden hunters chase at Hexham at the start of the month and surely vulnerable in open company at his age.
2015 Buccleuch Cup winner (Kelso), he went onto follow up at the Perth April Festival in 2015 but hasn't scored under rules since. Won a couple of Point-to-Points in the winter months (Corbridge and Friars Haugh), so not totally out of form, but well held back under rules at Perth twice lately.
Won an Alnwick Point-to-Point last year (good to soft), and also a runner-up in a Hexham hunters chase. Kept decent enough company during 2017, and returns after a short break since finishing 4L second to Chicago Outfit at Overton in March.
Forecasts
Man Of Steel (5/4), Abbeyview (11/4), Wayupinthesky (4/1), Wicklow Lad (8/1), Allthekingshorses (16/1), Forge Valley (25/1)
MAN OF STEEL is the youngster of this bunch, and has already proven himself to be a classy performer in Point-to-Points and Hunters Chases. He is a previous C&D winner, and ought to have too much ability for these five rivals to handle in a very winnable looking contest.
