Lightly-raced but plenty of promise when trained in Ireland, winning a 1m maiden, and shaped encouragingly for this yard on return from a long absence at Catterick last month. Of obvious interest considering jockey won this race last year.

Was winning for the fourth time from 26 starts when scoring over 6f at Ripon (good to firm) last time out. Raised just 2lb for that but failed to convince over this trip at Catterick previously.

Has really come to hand of late, making it two wins from her last three starts when dotting up by 4L over 7f at Catterick (good to firm) recently. Raised 8lb for that but likely there is more to come.

Just the one win from 17 starts (over this trip at Sandown on good to firm) but was competitive off this sort of mark last back-end. Reappears for a new yard and a market move would be interesting.

Lost his way in Ireland but has been revived by present yard on the evidence of a surprise win over this trip (good) at Wetherby last time out. Bigger task ahead of him off 5lb higher though.

Won a Goodwood maiden over 1m (good) for Marcus Tregoning last summer but struggled to make an impact in subsequent nurseries. Big ask as he reappears for a new yard.

A seven-time winner on the AW, including under this rider, but it's a vastly different story on turf where he is 0-22. That said, he was only beaten just over 2L off this mark at Lingfield (7f, good to soft) recently.

Five times a winner over shorter but never over 7f and never looked like changing that in a Redcar claimer on his debut for this yard on his reappearance. Others more persuasive.

Sole win came over 6f for Ralph Beckett but has reached the frame off higher marks than this over 7f. Hasn't really fired in two runs for this yard but mark is slipping and no surprise to see a better effort here.

Has established himself as a useful AW performer with three wins between 6f and 1m and tends to do better in large fields. Earlier turf form wasn't without promise and he could be potentially well-treated.

Has not won since landing a 7f handicap at Musselburgh last July but raced mainly over shorter trips since. Seemed to be crying out for this trip at Hamilton recently and has to be considered off a workable mark with top amateur booked.

Experienced campaigner who most recently got his head in front when scoring over 1m at Chelmsford in December. That would appear his optimum trip these days on the evidence of a poor latest run over 7f at Carlisle.

Sole win came over 1m2f on the AW early last year but has never really kicked on from there, including in headgear. Took a keen hold at Brighton last time and questions to answer over this shorter trip.

Can look unreliable and makes life tougher for himself often with some tardy/slow starts. Has run well enough on the fibresand at times this year but losing run is mounting up and he looks an unlikely winner.

An out-and-out front runner with 12 wins to his credit but has never really looked like adding to his tally since last scoring at Catterick 10 months ago. Opposable despite a falling mark.

Promise shown in two runs over further in France and not disgraced over this trip on seasonal/stable debut. Interesting to see how he fares pitched into a handicap for the first time.

Debut 6f maiden winner for William Haggas and added a Carlisle handicap over that trip to his CV for this trainer in September. Beaten around 5L behind Bahamian Bird over this trip at Catterick recently but 10lb better off. Yard won this last year..

A revelation on the Fibresand this this yard during the winter, winning twice, and was a fine 1L second behind Art Echo over 7f at Doncaster last time out. Very much respected.

Struck twice on the AW this winter over 7f but his record now reads no wins from 27 attempts on turf following a laboured effort at Wetherby (7f, good) last time. Others look more likely.

17:30 York - 27 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A devilishly-competitive finale in which the unexposed Madroos merits close inspection under last year's winning rider along with facile recent Catterick winner Bahamian Bird and Alpine Dream who represents last year's winning yard. However, the booking of leading amateur Simon Walker looks a signal of intent regarding BUCCANEERS VAULT and Paul Midgely's charge looks feasibly-treated with this return to 7f sure to work in his favour.
