C&D winner who was beaten only 2L by Mr Lupton in a nice race at Newmarket last time out. Up 1lb for that effort (for which he was sent off 50/1). Other recent form not up to that standard and that inconsistency makes him difficult to fancy.

Winner off this mark at Ascot last August and prior to that had won off higher weights. Not shown the same quality of late, though the drop back to 6f will suit him after being dismissed out of hand over 7f last time.

Comes into this in good form with some recent good runs on the AW and running her race at a price in Listed company back in October. Creeping up the weights which isn't ideal, but holds all-important course form, and will have no issues with the ground.

Up 4lb for a victory last time out over shorter at this course. Needs to prove that he is as effective over the additional furlong, but he rarely seems to be too far away in his races.

Completed a hat-trick at Wolverhampton in November and now makes his seasonal reappearance. 4lb higher in the weights than for that last victory, and this demands more, but he clearly possess a lot of natural talent and is finally coming into his own.

C&D winner in August 2013, and also crossed the line in front here more recently before being disqualified. Behind Go Far at Newmarket last time and doesn't have enough of a pull in the weights here to believe that that isn't going to make the difference.

Found himself not quite of the required standard for Listed company last year, and now returns to handicaps having only recently been gelded, despite his age. Not disgraced the last twice without ever doing enough to get on terms, but his handicap mark is gradually becoming more appealing.

No win since September 2013 and soundly beaten in a series of similar sprints to this. Multiple changes of trainer haven't made the difference and he looks set for another minor role.

Won at Lingfield off this mark in January (6f, standard), but hasn't run awfully since and those defeats can be put down to his higher weight. Now has to be a big player as long as he shows more on turf than last time, which shouldn't be an issue.

Ran a fine race to finish second in a decent Ascot handicap last time and a rise of only 1lb for that could prove lenient. Has a slightly tricky draw to overcome but acts on the ground and can give another good account.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: George Wood(5)| T: J R Fanshawe| OR:  90| D

Was beaten almost 5L by Moonraker at Ascot last time, and down only 1lb for that looks likely to be held by that reopposing rival once again, unless he can utilise the low draw, which should be an advantage.

Boy In The Barv7
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-2| J: Josephine Gordon| T: Ian Williams| OR:  86| D

Ran a fine race at Doncaster to finish sixth in November, before struggling over shorter here the next time but going closer at Newbury of 6f last time. Looks like this should be a minimum trip for him and looks to be on a fair handicap mark.

Relatively inexperienced but has shown she has talent by going close in just about all of her races so far. Looked perhaps a touch too high in the weights last time and is on the same mark now, but she is the definite horse in the field with potential to improve.

16:55 Goodwood - 26 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

An open-looking handicap where the one who appeals most is BOY IN THE BAR. He ran a great race at Doncaster in November behind subsequent Lincoln runner-up Oh This Is Us, and looks far more effective over 6f than the 5f he has been tried over since. He is taken to beat Clear Spring, who should be able to do better now eased in class, and unexposed type Queen In Waiting.
  1. Boy In The Bar
  2. Clear Spring
  3. Queen In Waiting
