A three time course winner (twice over C&D last April), but those wins have come with some give in the ground. Yet to show anything like that form for this yard, but undeniably well handicapped and capable of running a big race if primed to strike and handling the ground.

Not won on turf since July 2014 (5F Yarmouth maiden), but did notch a couple of AW successes since (one for this trainer at Wolverhampton in November 2015). Regularly placed in 2017 and a fair third for this rider at Nottingham latest.

21 race maiden, but finished a short head in front of Sir Geoffrey at Southwell recently when runner up to Kodimoor on his first start for three months. Twice ran well here over C&D last back-end so this track appears to suit.

Narrow Musselburgh winner in September 2016 (5F good to firm) from a 1lb higher mark, and is well suited by that East Lothian venue. Not so sharp since nevertheless, but a couple of recent runs could have helped put her spot on for this with conditions to suit.

Alongside Southwell, tends to save his best for this track, and showed he retains plenty of zest for racing when winning at Brighton (6F) earlier this month. 3lb higher for that success (and ran well from a higher AW mark since), so has strong claims here over a C&D that he adores. Will set them all the target to be aimed at.

Sole career success came in a Beverley claimer for William Haggas in September 2016, and finished last of eleven from out of the weights in a Redcar handicap last month on her first start since November 2016. Little obvious appeal.

19 race maiden, but kept busy on the AW during the winter with some reasonable enough efforts in the main. Doing her best work late on her return to turf at Yarmouth last month, and things might happen a shade too quickly for her around this track.

Many moons since his last success (Beverley July 2015) and always towards the rear over this C&D when eighth (Sir Geoffrey sixth) of twelve to Kinloch Pride last month. Dropped 3lb.

Kept on strongly to take a C&D apprentices handicap by 2½L in May 2016 at odds of 20/1 but very limited progress since (beaten plenty of times at this track). Not shown anything since switched back to turf this year (four starts) and appears basically one of those horses to support and hope (rather than expect) it's his 'day'.

Getting no younger, and his last success was over C&D way back in August 2012 for Ruth Carr from a 16lb higher mark. Achieved virtually nothing since then other than rear division finishes until third to a handicap certainty at Ayr earlier in the month (Longroom). Hard to imagine him as the winner.

Loumarin (11/4), Our Place In Loule (4/1), Hit The Lights (5/1), Thornaby Princess (11/2), Chandresh (6/1), Kodimoor (7/1), Sir Geoffrey (8/1), Minty Jones (16/1), Under Approval (20/1), Caymus (25/1), On The High Tops (50/1)

17:45 Catterick - 25 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

SIR GEOFFREY will be out blazing a trail in front with the target very much firmly attached to his back. He showed that he is no back number when winning at Brighton at the start of the month, and from only a 3lb higher mark, he might just have the legs to hang on for another Catterick success. Other viable options include Thornaby Princess, Our Place in Loule, and if ready to roll the top-weighted Hit The Lights.
  1. Sir Geoffrey
  2. Our Place In Loule
  3. Thornaby Princess
