Veteran winner of four of his 28 hurdles and who takes a class drop going into this race. Won here over C&D on heavy ground in 2014 and last year over 2m4f on soft, the latter from 15lb higher. Not huge amounts of encouragement since, but a market check is advised to gauge confidence at this level.

5lb higher than when making the frame at Doncaster in January (3m½f, good). Was well beaten from this mark when last seen at Taunton (2m3f, good) in February, but may appreciate the return to this trip. Yard in decent form, though this representative is a 16-race maiden.

1-11, that sole success being at Ayr (3m½f, heavy) 15 months ago from 2lb higher. Did win a point-to-point on good ground. Visor tried two starts ago but without success and now cheekpieces on. Stable quiet enough and not easy to enthuse about him on recent efforts.

Was runner-up over C&D (good to soft) from 3lb lower in September and went reasonably well after a winter break when an 11L fourth at Downpatrick (2m6f, good) earlier in the month. Stays well and not without a chance.

Sedgefield specialist who won at that venue for a second time from a mark of 89 (3m3f, good) last month, before being pulled up when chasing at Fakenham (2m5f, good to firm) last time. Returns to hurdles on a career-high mark (8lb higher than that Sedgefield win) but likely to be competitive.

Acts well on a sound surface and made the frame for a third time at Ffos Las last time out (2m6f, good) from today's mark. Raced keenly enough in first-time cheekpieces there and now tongue tie tried but other headgear left off. Looks likely to stay this far, especially if settling better. Interesting.

Made the frame in a Carlisle bumper (2m1f, soft) last year but has given little cause for optimism over hurdles and now dropped 3lb from his initial mark. Money for him would be encouraging, but otherwise he is not easy to fancy.

Made the frame a couple of times when chasing for Dan Skelton two seasons ago, but has shown nothing so far for this yard. Returns to hurdles for the first time in over two years and from a mark 17lb lower than his last run. Never raced over this far, but related to a 3m winner and would be very interesting if supported.

Led for a long way but was going backwards before a heavy fall at Musselburgh last time and had made the frame over slightly shorter than this at Kelso (good to soft) in December. 3lb lower than that today and not totally ruled out, although there are clear risk involved from a punting perspective.

Had looked a decent prospect in 2010 when winning a Wetherby novices' hurdle for Steve Gollings, but has scored only twice since and is now 18lb lower than the most recent of those, two years ago. Would have a chance if able to repeat his Musselburgh run from January (3m, good), especially in this lower grade.

Both wins have been when there has been plenty of cut in the ground and she is 4lb higher than the best of them at Sedgefield in February (2m4f, heavy). Blinkers added today, though she has never been at her best on good ground and others are preferred.

Forecasts

Lake Shore Drive (13/8), Cairnshill (10/3), Lime Street (6/1), Andhaar (11/1), Nicki's Nipper (12/1), Paddy's Yarn (14/1), Our Morris (18/1), Bollin Julie (20/1), Notnowsam (25/1), See Double You (33/1), Bertalus (33/1)

20:20 Hexham - 23 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

See You Double may be long in the tooth but he drops in grade here and can't be ruled out, while Andhaar would have claims if he could be relied upon to produce his Musselburgh performance from four months ago. Nicki's Nipper should be involved, while Cairnshill and Lime Street are others who would not surprise in winning. However, today could be the day to take a chance on NOTNOWSAM, who has been dropped a huge 17lb since his last run and steps up to this trip for the first time.
  1. Notnowsam
  2. Cairnshill
  3. Lime Street
