Not been seen on turf since the end of last year when he was struggling a little on that surface despite a declining mark. Showed some reasonable form without winning on the AW but often failed to deliver after traveling well and needs a well-judged ride to see him winning as he's not straightforward.

Has just a Thirsk maiden win over 7f to his name after failing to score in handicaps as a three-year-old. Shaped well last time out at Doncaster over a mile (forced pace; raced freely) off a mark of 80 and is dropped a furlong and 2lb here and could well be capable of winning a handicap soon.

Formerly with the sadly now retired Ed McMahon he has his first run here for his new yard coming back from a fair absence. Runs off a career high mark here (76) having scored at Ripon last August off 3lb lower gaining a hard-fought win over a mile. Could be vulnerable off this mark and needs a strong gallop to be seen at his best.

Looks failed exposed in the handicap despite being only 1lb above his last winning mark but may have had a tactical advantage when winning at Sandown last year (stable were also in rude health at the time). Should run a solid race but other have more improvement in them.

Yard are going well of late and this one scored on his stable debut at Doncaster in 0-70 company showing plenty for pressure to record his first handicap win. Ran a solid race next time out when up in grade off today's mark at Leicester when beaten by a couple of improving and unexposed three-year-olds.

14:45 Newmarket - 19 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Several here that can be given a chance and will be winning handicaps this season with Venutius one of the more interesting ones as he starts life with the Hills stable although this mark makes life tough. A strong gallop will suit him as it will Scribner Creek who can get a fair way back in his races. Lexington Times has a handicap mark that continues to decline and the chances are that he will take advantage soon although he’s not that easy to win with. Midnight Macchiato is another who he getting near a winning mark but overall WAR WHISPER is the one who looks to have plenty in his favour off a mark of 80 after his eye-catching (in its own way) Ascot run.
  1. War Whisper
  2. Midnight Macchiato
  3. Scribner Creek
