Four-times Flat winner for Mark Johnston and successful twice over hurdles for David Pipe. Runner-up to Diakali on his debut for his new handler at Fairyhouse last month and a reproduction of that effort might well be good enough.
Pulled up on his last three hurdling starts in 2015, he was last of seven in a Limerick Flat contest last month after an absence of nearly two years. Needs to show a revival before becoming a betting proposition again.
Has been knocking on the door in a series of competitive handicap hurdles and again shaped well when sixth, not beaten that far, at Punchestown last time. Positive jockey booking indicates he is primed to make a bold bid to end a seven-race losing sequence.
Last win came in a Curragh Flat race in October, 2015. One maiden win from five starts over hurdles suggests he may struggle to trouble a couple of in-form rivals, while his fitness after a break has to be taken on trust.
Has been competing with credit in novice company, but takes a step up in class here and has plenty to do.
Forecasts
Stars Over The Sea (11/10), Veinard (6/4), Shadagann (8/1), Jaime Sommers (9/1), Orgilgo Bay (25/1)
A trappy contest in which tactics are going to play a part. STARS OVER THE SEA made all when last successful on the Flat and will probably take them along in this. His recent run behind Diakali reads well and he may have too many guns for Veinard, who has been performing well in some valuable handicaps. Shadagann looks the best of the rest.
