A wide margin hurdles winner at Sedgefield in February (2m4f heavy), this gelding also has plenty of other winning (chase) form with cut. The application of the tongue tie appears to have suited, and he finished a head second to the reliable Mumgos Debut at Carlisle (2m4f) last month. That was just his second start over fences for this trainer, so there could be more to come now upped in trip.

In good form for Charlie Longsdon through the latter part of summer 2016, beating Muwalla by 15L at Sedgefield in August (2m4f) before moving onto this trainer in November for £11,000. Not so effective in three races since, but has dropped 5lb combined and will encounter ground which is more likely to suit tonight.

Appeared to be a strong stayer when landing a New Years Day novices handicap chase at Musselburgh (3m good), and went close back from a short break when going down narrowly to Master Burbridge at Sedgefield latest (2m5f). Back up 2lb, but likely to be one of those forcing the pace tonight.

Slowly getting the hang of the chasing game, and she built upon her 1L runners up effort to Mahler Lad (3m2f good), when clinging on by ¾L to shed the maiden tag at Sedgefield last month. This is a stronger race and she's raised 9lb, but a slight drop in trip could prove helpful.

Forecasts

Tomkevi (13/8), Rolling Thunder (2/1), Sweet Belle (4/1), Cooper's Friend (9/2), Westend Theatre (25/1)

19:05 Hexham - 6 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A small field, but each of the five runners can be considered for one reason or another. ROLLING THUNDER is likely to force the pace, and looks competitive on the strength of a couple of decent efforts this year. Sweet Belle is on the up, and this slight drop in trip may play to her strengths, in a race which looks a shade more competitive than the one she won recently. Cooper's Friend will be better on this ground, whilst Westend Theatre has claims on his previous effort here in March 2016, and might be stronger for his Carlisle reappearance. However, Tomkevi looks like giving the selection most to do with his trainer in good form if proving equally effective over this longer trip on slightly quicker ground than is ideal.
  1. Rolling Thunder
  2. Tomkevi
  3. Sweet Belle
