First start for this trainer today after joining him from George Scott, for whom he added one win to the two he had recorded for Ed Dunlop. All of those were at this, his optimum tip. Goes well on forecast fast ground and starts this season back on that last winning mark. Claims.

Catterick maiden win (7f, good) in 2015 remains his sole success, though made the frame in Listed company later that campaign. Unable to recapture that sort of form in competitive handicaps last yea, nor when returning here dropped in class last month over 1m after being gelded. Strong claims if better for that run but carries risks.

Goes into this 3lb lower than his best handicap win at York a couple of seasons ago. Went close from this pitch when last seen in September. Fits the profile of stable's runners tending to need their reappearance, so unless there is significant support he is probably best watched this time.

1lb higher than his highest winning handicap mark, which was over C&D (good to firm) in August. That win came on the back of a good spell for the gelding and while he has not been in quite such good form of late, he showed signs of a return to better things last time. Market check is advised.

Popped up a couple of times last season over this trip. Goes well on fast ground and is now back on a mark 2lb below his last success. Stable has been among the winners and it would be no surprise to see this representative leave recent form behind him.

Gelded after winning his maiden at Nottingham in August and that has looked beneficial on both subsequent starts, winning twice over today's trip at Wolverhampton. 4lb higher than the latter, but that race has worked out well with second and third both winning since and he has very solid claims here.

0-14, though has made the frame half a dozen times and seems equally effective over both 7f and 1m. Can certainly get competitive from today's mark, though very much exposed and more than likely to find something to beat him.

Debut success at Chelmsford last year promised a bit more than he has subsequently been able to deliver. Largely consistent in defeats since, meaning he has crept back up in the weights. However, has a 5lb pull with Gilgamesh for a 1L defeat by that opponent in February, though does look the more exposed of the pair.

Probably didn't have to improve much to win a Lingfield maiden on his second start in the autumn and reappears here after a winter break for his handicap debut. Pedigree suggests that this trip will be the bare minimum. Yard's 3yos have not yet got going in 2017, but a market check would be prudent nonetheless.

Forecasts

Gilgamesh (7/4), Tai Sing Yeh (9/2), Fieldsman (6/1), Tailor's Row (15/2), Deansgate (9/1), Sakhee's Return (11/1), Shamaheart (12/1), Mohab (16/1), Slemy (33/1)

16:30 Redcar - 4 May 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

GILGAMESH is one of the less exposed runners here and given that his latest win has worked out well, he may be capable of completing a hat-trick from 4lb higher. Tailor's Row is weighted to at least finish close-up , if not overturn form with the selection on their Wolverhampton run in February, though we have much more of a handle on his capabilities. Tai Sing Yeh is one to check out in the market and Fieldsman is also on a fair mark. For those looking for some each-way value then Slemy is on a decent mark again and has a fair bit going for him in that regard.
  1. Gilgamesh
  2. Tai Sing Yeh
  3. Slemy
