Won at Warwick over 2m4f in December (soft) from 9lb lower, but well held over 3m from this mark on his last two starts and looks in the grip of the handicapper.
13L scorer at Chepstow last time out (good) over a similar trip and raised 11lb for that effort. Does tend to do his winning in batches, so supporters will be very hopeful that he can defy such a hike and follow-up.
Just 1lb higher than when winning at Ludlow in January. Acts on a sound surface and not disgraced in a similar race to this back at the Shropshire venue last time. Short break might have done him good and he should be competitive.
0-10 over fences, though has made the frame a few times. Best effort was from 5lb higher last year but not far off that level of form at Chepstow recently. Clearly looks to be a spring horse and likely to be heavily involved.
Back after a winter break and his run at Sedgefield in September would give him a decent chance at these weights, if he is able to reproduce it. Suited by a sound surface, but a quick glance at his recent CV highlights that he clearly carries risks.
Won a novices' handicap chase here over 2m5½f (good) almost a year ago from the same mark as today and wasn't far away over C&D after that, from a 6lb higher mark. Chances on that evidence. Record when fresh is lukewarm, but with hood fitted that could change.
Forecasts
Ultimatum Du Roy (3/1), Clubs Are Trumps (3/1), Twojayslad (7/2), Get Involved (7/2), Sirius Star (8/1), Rough Justice (20/1)
Brian Rothwell could have found a good opportunity for SIRIUS STAR to win again and the first-time hood might just be the decisive factor for a gelding back on a good mark. Get Involved loves it at this time of year and will be a danger. Clubs Are Trumps won well last time and can string wins together, so he too is feared, while Ultimatim Du Roy should also be thereabouts.
