Nicely-bred type from respected yard and connections. Related to winners over slightly further than this, so looks a long term prospect. But wouldn't need to be anything special to get involved here. Yard going well so one to bear in mind.
Cost €75,000 as a yearling and is a half brother to decent sprinter, Desert Ace; and notable that his dam won several races over sprint distances. 7f shouldn't be a problem but others look more appeal over the trip.

Cost €75,000 as a yearling and is out of a dam that was unplaced during her time racing in France. From a stable that does well with horses of this type but possible that he may need further in time, so one for the notebook on this occasion.

Bred to get a little further and needs to post a a much improved effort from his two outing registered at the back-end of last season. A step up in trip may suit when he goes into handicaps after this. Yard won this last year.

Cost 35,000 gns and is related to a handful of useful performers between 6f and 1m. Yard is quite just now, so another that may be sharper for the experience.

Tried and failed to make all the running over C&D when last seen out but wasn't beaten too far and will certainly have benefited from the experience. Pedigree suggests 1m+ would be suitable in due course, so another contender to view with an eye on the future over a more exacting test of stamina.

Cost 70,000 gns and is a brother to the useful Tahid - a 7f winner; also a half-brother to Eltheeb and Rossetti, who both came into their own over middle distances. An interesting contender but from a yard that has made a slow start to the new campaign.

Out of a dam that proved useful over 10f, he cost £90,000 and represents a trainer who has won two of the four renewals of this race and always has to be respected with his younger horses at this time of year. Never managed to land a telling blow on his debut at Kempton but should be wiser for the experience. One to bear in mind now he has the benefit of a run behind him.

Represents a top trainer but created the impression that he may need further when he was introduced at Chelmsford at the start of this month. Likely to know more about what is required this time around. And a more forceful ride may bring about some improvement. An interesting one for handicaps in due course whatever he achieves this evening.

Cost £13,000 and is out of a half-sister to some very useful sprinters. yard struggling for winners at the moment, though. And may be best watched just for now.

Totally friendless in the betting prior to each of her previous starts and basically ran up to expectations. Much more required this time up and it is hard to see her making an impact on the evidence available.

Capable of winning over this trip on breeding but needs to improve on her debut run at Bath, where she faded to beat just one rival across the finish line. Others make more appeal at this stage.

Well beaten on her recent debut but did create the impression that stepping up to at least 7f will suit. 7lb claimer takes over from Ted Durcan, which leaves the filly with a sneaky chance at the weights. Interesting for a place if backed.

Soon beaten on turf debut in Norway and, although difficult to evaluate on face value, she has a lot to prove now she switches to an artificial surface for her UK debut.

17:20 Lingfield - 26 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Not the strongest maiden by the standards of what's to come in the next few weeks but several of these may be capable of winning a handicap somewhere along the line. The likes of: Milburn Jack, Tadween and Time's Arrow are all likely to have derived benefit from their debut runs and its quite feasible anyone of them may force the issue this time around. However, a chance is taken on BALESTRA, who has the right criteria on pedigree and, with his yard going well just now, this son of Bated Breath may be good value to get off the mark at the first time of asking. Joy is another interesting option for a place in the frame and is worth bearing in mind if she attracts support in the betting. Nevasca also appeals as one that could slip under the radar but still run a big race.

  2. Milburn Jack
