Started last year well but struggled upped in class. Needs cheekpieces and a winter break to have done him plenty of good if he's to land this off top-weight.

Excellent fast ground winner at Yarmouth in September and second and third placed horses have come out and won again since. Ran too bad to be true at Newmarket when last seen and tailed off but met some interference that day. Trainer and jockey had a double at Newmarket Thursday and this colt warrants the utmost respect with 2000 Guineas, Dante and Derby entries.

Good effort on debut on fast ground at Doncaster at the end of last season and didn't need to improve to win a Chelmsford City maiden when last seen in December. Won by 6L but could have been more if he'd been asked for more effort and handicap mark doesn't look overly harsh on that basis. Could go well.

Couldn't have won his debut much more impressively at Kempton overcoming greenness to win comfortably. Didn't look like a particularly strong field but connections have been in fine form this week and he should go well.

Fast ground winner at Windsor in August and followed up over C&D in September. Form of that latest effort hasn't really worked out but clearly an exciting prospect and not dismissed off a fair looking mark.

Excellent second behind a smart Godolphin recruit on comeback run at Pontefract last time, over coming greenness to finish second. Every chance she will build on that and quite possibly well-handicapped so looks like a leading player for a trainer that does well with his fillies.

Won his Lingfield maiden well enough at the turn of the year, displaying an impressive turn of foot and eased down towards the finish line. Will no doubt come on for that effort after he was keen in the early stages so should go well.

Finished third in a hot looking maiden at Newmarket and finished his race in good fashion at Kempton last time after he had been headed. Drop in trip would have to be a concern on that basis but trainer and jockey couldn't be in better form.

C&D winner on soft ground in September and yard has a good strike-rate with horses returning from a break but some bring more eye-catching form to the table.

Running respectably on the AW this winter but no doubt he needs to step up on that form in this contest and he's more exposed than most in this line up, others preferred.

Won his comeback run at Kempton comfortably enough but 11lb rise for that effort looks a little harsh and trainer's strike-rate is poor at this course.

Scored on debut for this yard in a Lingfield maiden and hampered when making his effort back at that course last time. Still unlikely to have won though and others bring better levels of form to the table.

Done well on the AW this winter and looks well suited to an artificial surface. Didn't show a lot on turf prior to those efforts last season so maybe best watched but he does hold an Irish 2,000 Guineas entry.

Dual winner for Mark Prescott but he's looked a little exposed on two starts for this yard and needs to learn to settle in his races better.

Won a Kempton maiden when last seen in October but form yet to work out from that race and looks more exposed than plenty of these so others preferred on this occasion.

16:10 Newbury - 21 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

This would appear to be a hot Class 2 handicap with plenty looking like they could be ahead of their marks but preference is for SOLOMON'S BAY. Roger Varian and Silvestre De Sousa recorded a double at Newmarket yesterday and this colt looked like a smart prospect when getting up on fast ground at Yamouth; he should be able to bounce back from a poor effort at Newmarket. Jule In The Crown was impressive when finishing second behind Brian The Snail at Pontefract last time and she could be well-handicapped and Abatement scored with plenty in hand at Lingfield last time and could grab a place.
  1. Solomon's Bay
  2. Jule In The Crown
  3. Abatement
