Bought for 375,000 gns as a yearling and holds are Derby. Trainer's runners are usually forward at this time of year but this colt looks down the pecking order with regards to jockey bookings. Likely to want more of a stamina test.

Bought for 130,000 gns as a yearling. Trainer has made a typically strong start to the campaign and they have a respectable record with their debutantes so worthy of plenty of respect on debut. Wears a tongue-tie.

Trainer made a strong start to the campaign, running at a strike-rate of around 29% but this colt would appear likely to want further than this and stable jockey prefers Elyaasaat.

Holds entries for the Dante and the Derby and yard won this with Sky Kingdom. Son of Frankel who looks to be the owner's first string on jockey bookings and wears a tongue-tie for debut so worthy of plenty of respect and market support likely to prove significant.

Bought for $400,000 and yard do well with their newcomers. Plenty of speed in his pedigree though and possible this may stretch him a little on debut. Others preferred.

Son of Invincible Spirit and related to some classy performers including Melbourne Cup runner-up Bauer. Yard capable of readying one but he may want a little further than this.

Looks bred for less of a stamina test than the mile here and yard have been a little quiet of late so may be best watched on debut.

Yard have made a quiet start to this season and trainer's runners often in need of their debut but trip looks about right at least and it's a fair starting point.

Bought for €22,000 as a foal sold for £40,000 as a yearling. Has plenty of speed in his pedigree but there's some hope he will stay this trip with some stamina in the dam's side. Trainer made an excellent start to the season and very much one to note in the betting.

Bought for 15,000 gns as a yearling and yard have made a quiet start to this campaign. This looks enough of a stamina test on debut and probably best watched this time.

Bought for €140,000 as a yearling and trainer has made a flying start to the season. Draw unlikely to be ideal and may want a little further than this but still plenty to like and market support would make her interesting.

Unraced Godolphin inmate sold to these connections for £22,000. Holds a 1,000 Guineas entry but yard have been a little quiet so may be best avoided this time around.

Jalela
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: L Dettori| T: R Hannon
9/1
Cost 60,000 gns as a foal and went for 180,000 gns as a yearling. Yards runners have looked typically forward for the start of this season but looks to be a lot of speed in her pedigree and this could be enough of a test on debut.
Already transferred hands three times in her career, all for relatively low cost (8,000 gns most recently) and she would be a surprise winner of a maiden of this quality.

Forecasts

Elyaasaat (7/4), Mark Of Approval (11/2), Night Circus (13/2), Damocles (13/2), Jalela (9/1), Dawaaleeb (10/1), Buldan (16/1), Borthwen (25/1), Titan (33/1), Zack Mayo (66/1), Unit of Assessment (66/1), Dream Start (66/1), Shyarch (100/1), Tallulah's Quest (125/1)

13:50 Newmarket - 18 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

John Gosden may hold the key to this race and he runs two exciting prospects in this race. Mark Of Approval cost plenty at the sales but it's DAMOCLES who looks most interesting for a yard who have made a strong start to the campaign. Elyaasaat is the pick of Jim Crowley who had the choice of three in the race and the trainer won this last year with a nice sort so it could well be significant that this is the starting place for the son of Frankel. Unit of Assessment has an interesting pedigree and could go well for his trainer who has been firing in the winners already this season.
  1. Damocles
  2. Elyaasaat
  3. Unit of Assessment
