Flopped at Downpatrick three weeks ago over 3m4f but had previously been going about his business in nice fashion prior to that and drop back to this sort of trip ought to see him in a better light.

Yet win over fences in ten starts but has placed six times in that sequence, including last month at Thurles over 2m6f. Just needs to prove stamina to be a player.

Three runs this over the winter were underwhelming, including when last seen at Punchestown in January. Has his work cut out amongst some of these rivals on form.

Quick double in the autumn at Roscommon and Galway rather improved an average strike rate over fences. Visor comes back on now but looks likely to require more in this contest.

Pulled up in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter last month, gets 4lb relief and had had previously won as he pleased around Navan over 2m6f. Could be the type to bounce back.

Scored first chase success at Down Royal last month over 2m4f at the fifth attempt, beating Crest by 2L. That rival hit the frame here yesterday off increased mark. Must back up previous run, which is no certainty.

Has been struggling in three runs this season since joining current trainer from Willie Mullins yard. Best of his novice form would still give him a bit to find here.

A thoroughly unreliable character these days, hasn't got his head in front since January 2015, regularly failing to complete the course. Doesn't appeal for betting purposes at the moment.

Won a beginners event at Gowran Park last February (2m2f, heavy) and ran well here in December over 2m1f. Poor run over hurdles at Wexford on comeback ten days ago and doubts about stamina for this test.

Modest handicapper, bounced back to best form with easy Navan win over 2m4f early this month. Could be more to come but now runs off career-high mark.

Remains a maiden after 14 starts, does tend to run some promising races and mark of 111 doesn't scupper hopes completely today.

Goes back up in trip, two most recent outings have been competitive and drops 4lb in the handicap now. Anything but prolific but could run into a place easily enough on a going day.

Went well enough for a long way at Limerick over 3m latest in the middle of last month. That was best effort for some time and came off this mark, now 12-year-old and by no means certain to repeat it.

Won well over 2m4f at Navan in early March, in what was just a third outing under rules. This step up in distance looks likely to suit and must rate a danger from this opening handicap mark.

Been running some consistent races of late to hit the frame but still appears to have it all on to improve on a winning record of 1-18 over fences. First-time blinkers and jockey booking can be viewed as positives.

Modest record of one win from 13 outings over jumps to date, no success over hurdles and hasn't really been showing much inkling that will change. Switches to chases from hurdles.

18:10 Fairyhouse - 17 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Art Of Payroll is likely to figure near the head of the market in this, he has regularly placed over fences and ought to be in the mix again if his stamina is not unduly tested now. White Arm has also been running into place money of late and with Jack Kennedy taking over, a step forward isn't ruled out. Suas Sios is on a fair opening handicap mark having scored well at Navan last month on just his third racecourse start and merits consideration but the vote sits with MAD BRIAN, who is 4lb lower after last month's failure in the Midlands National. His prior run at Navan was full of promise and he can go well in this. Stoughan Cross deserves a place on the shortlist having recoded an easy win at Navan recently, though he may need a career-best to follow up.
  1. Mad Brian
  2. Suas Sios
  3. Art Of Payroll
