Mr Scaramanga42
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-3| J: Harry Bentley| T: S Dow| OR:  97
16/1
Winner of a local Group Two in Doha last time. Has placed form at Group Three and Listed level in this country for Richard Hannon. AW form not as strong as turf achievements and that makes his task more difficult.

Won on debut at Lingfield before putting in an even better performance to finish second at Newcastle in a conditions race last time. Had Mr Scaramanga 5L behind that day and should confirm that form with this easier track sure to suit him better. Beaten in a Kempton handicap since and has something to find if he is to repeat the yard's success in this last year.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: Jim Crowley| T: R Hannon| OR:  100
15/8
Had four future winners (including the top class Rivet) behind when winning a six runner maiden at Ascot. Third in the Group Three Solario Stakes at Sandown next time before failing in soft ground when sent off at short odds. Has displayed an awkward head carriage which will be a worry around here. Sire's progeny go well on AW surfaces and stable have had five winners in the past week.

Was aimed high after landing a Newmarket maiden. Sound effort to finish third in the Group Three Horris Hill at Newbury. Entered for the Dante and Irish 2,000 Guineas and looks one the main contenders here.

5/1
Impressive winner of a couple of minor races before finishing in mid-division in the Solario Stakes. That form gives him a bit to find with Eqtiraan and the yard's horses have been off the pace lately.

Baileys Showgirl188
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: S De Sousa| T: C & M Johnston| OR:  101
8/1
Winner of a novice auction event at Hamilton before picking up a minor Listed race at Chantilly. Not disgraced in Group company since and the conditions of this race give her an outstanding chance at the weights. Has reared coming out of the stalls on a couple of occasions. and a well beaten favourite on only AW start. Trainer took this in 2014.

Paco's Angel183
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: S W Kelly| T: R Hughes| OR:  97
8/1
Had won a couple of minor races before producing a much improved display to finish fourth in the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes. Had some smart horses behind her that day and, if that form can be trusted, will take some beating.

Forecasts

Eqtiraan (15/8), Law And Order (11/4), Majoris (5/1), Paco's Angel (8/1), Baileys Showgirl (8/1), Mr Scaramanga (16/1), Ay Ay (16/1)

15:45 Lingfield - 8 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

There are a lots of ifs and buts surrounding this race. If Baileys Showgirl breaks on terms and handles the surface she has shown more than enough to land this at these weights. Pacos Angel ran to a much higher level than she had achieved previously when fourth in a Group Three last time. If running to that standard here she would take some beating. Eqtiraan won a hot Ascot maiden but two defeats since saw him display an awkward head carriage which could be a problem on these undulations. Nevertheless, if he has matured over the winter, and runs to the level which saw him take third in the Solario Stakes, then the Hannon stable could land this for the third time since 2011. LAW AND ORDER looks the one with fewest questions to answer. He has performed to a consistent level in Group company and his Horris Hill third is as good a piece of form as there is in this.
  1. Law And Order
  2. Eqtiraan
  3. Baileys Showgirl
