More letters than numbers in recent form figures but is capable on his day, and his third to Dance Floor King at Exeter in January is a decent effort. Looked held when unseating at Stratford last time and although not discounted, has a bit to prove here.

Good effort at Taunton last time when sent handicapping for the first time and given a huge step up in trip. Connections wasting no time over hurdles and if handling this drop back to an intermediate trip, has improvement to come and looks on of the more likely players.

Good first effort over fences at Huntingdon in December but not so good on two subsequent efforts, and was well beaten at Bangor when last seen. Back up in trip here and hard to have much confidence about him at present.

Connections found the right race for him at Fontwell two starts ago and he duly obliged, although was all out to hold on at the finish. Poor effort last time only highlights his inconsistency and has plenty to prove now.

Not unbacked when winning a three-horse race at Fontwell a fortnight ago, and basically jumped his two rivals into the ground (despite not always being that fluent himself). Up 3lb for that and this looks more competitive, so needs improvement.

Hard to win with but did come good at Sandown from a 20lb higher mark than this, so hard to complain about his handicap mark, and has looked like he's coming back to form on his latest two starts. Trip and likely ground fine and should at least run his race again.

Veteran is on the downgrade these days, with his falling mark reflecting that. Not seen out since December when pulling up at Towcester and although likely conditions will be fine, there's too much to take on trust now.

Mixes chasing with hurdling and did pick up a selling hurdle at Fakenham in November, but efforts since then leave plenty to be desired and although not disgraced last time out, this looks a bit too difficult for him.

Forecasts

Maguire's Glen (5/2), Irish Thistle (7/2), Gold Mountain (7/2), The Geegeez Geegee (5/1), Bredon Hill Lad (11/2), Tolkeins Tango (11/2), Double Treasure (12/1), Iona Days (12/1), Taroum (14/1)

This looks a good opportunity for the relatively unexposed GOLD MOUNTAIN to gain his first win over fences. He's taking a drop back in trip here but there seems no reason he won't be effective at it - indeed he may even improve for it, and if repeating his Taunton form, must go close. Irish Thistle is hard to win with but is more likely to run his race than a few here., and he and recent Fontwell scorer Bredon Hill Lad can both take some prizemoney home.
  1. Gold Mountain
  2. Irish Thistle
  3. Bredon Hill Lad
