Viserion34
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: James Cowley(5)| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  122
7/4
Former Flat racer for David Simcock, but has taken well to hurdling for this trainer, winning by 10L from Zalvados on his third start at Carlisle in February (2m1f soft). Lost a shoe and suffered a small overreach when disappointing under a penalty at Kelso early last month. Capable of bouncing back, with plenty of form on a sound surface on the Flat.

Allfredandnobell63
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-1| J: Finian O'Toole(5)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  113
6/1
12 race Flat maiden, but was off the mark at the second attempt over hurdles at Wetherby in a juvenile maiden event early in the New Year (2m good to soft). Possibly marginally better than his finishing position at Catterick on his latest start (short of room and mistake at the last), and returns from eight weeks off with no ground concerns.

British Art12
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Callum Whillans(3)| T: R K Watson| OR:  96
14/1
11 race Flat maiden, who has appeared to do all of his best work far too late in the day in three starts over hurdles in Ireland. This drop in trip from his recent fifth placed effort at Downpatrick (2m3f good) doesn't appear the most obvious move, but worth checking for any market support.

Cesar Et Rosaliet21
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: M J Quinlan| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  121
8/11
4L bumper winner on the Lingfield Polytrack in November 2016, and ran well enough on his hurdles debut at Musselburgh in February (2m good) when beaten 4½L by Gaitway. Didn't appear to get home at Fakenham last time when a beaten favourite, which is a worry, but holds a chance in a moderate race on ground which will suit.

Well held in both starts over hurdles last month at Newcastle and Wetherby. Lacked any real fluency on either occasion, with this ground likely to be the fastest he's raced on to date, handicaps are likely to see him in a better light.

Invictus15
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Alain Cawley| T: D Loughnane| OR:  97
25/1
Hasn't shown a great deal of promise on either of his hurdles runs since leaving the care of Micky Hammond, and finished last of seven on the AW at Chelmsford (1m2f) a fortnight ago, so is difficult to consider at the moment.

Horse silk
66/1
Flat racer for Anthony Carson, but never competitive in four runs in that sphere. Off since August 2016, and joined this trainer for a mere £800 in September 2016, and makes his hurdles debut wearing a first-time tongue strap.
Rear division finishes in both starts in bumpers (once at this track), and never figured on her hurdles debut here last week when seventh of eight to Hint of Grey. Encounters similar conditions today.

Forecasts

Cesar Et Rosalie (8/11), Viserion (7/4), Allfredandnobell (6/1), British Art (14/1), Invictus (25/1), Raennavich (66/1), Placedela Concorde (66/1), Crocodile Dancer (150/1)

14:40 Sedgefield - 7 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

VISERION looks the horse to beat, with the 5lb claim of James Cowley handily removing much of his penalty for winning at Carlisle on his penultimate start. He needs to show he's none the worse for that below par Kelso effort last time, but he did have excuses, and has shown during his Flat career that drying ground holds no concerns. Cesar Et Rosalie is likely to give him most to think about if ridden with a shade more restraint than last time at Fakenham.
  1. Viserion
  2. Cesar Et Rosalie
  3. Allfredandnobell
