Made all to win four races last term and improve his rating from a mark of 65 up to 80. May have needed the run and done to much too soon when weakening inside the final furlong here last time. Visor tried for the first time that day is retained. Top rider is 1-8 for the yard.

Handicap mark looks right based on what this full sister to the very useful middle distance horse Star Storm has achieved so far. He is a horse that progressed with racing so John Gosden's filly could have a lot more to offer. Yard are going through what would be a quiet spell by their standards.

Showed improved form when stepped up to this distance last time. May have been flattered by her proximity to the winner that day who has won again since. Handicap mark looks right and there may be better options. Stable took this last year.

Former smart horse for Richard Hannon who was rated 102 at his peak. Was on a losing run stretching back to 2014 until an emphatic success at Newcastle last time. Had looked in the grip of the handicapper until that point and is 6lb higher now. Yet to race over a trip as far as this and pedigree would raise some doubts.

5/2
C&D winner last year who has run consistently well in defeat since. That is doing him no favours with the handicapper. The form of his latest effort has taken a few knocks but with this track bringing out the best in him, and room for further improvement, he has to enter calculations.

Winner of four polytrack races at around this trip. Has paid the price for a good spell in July-August last year and handicapper is not keen to relax his grip just yet.

Forecasts

Alf Guineas (15/8), Hairdryer (5/2), Cape Peninsular (4/1), Magic City (6/1), Inniscastle Lad (8/1), Mr Red Clubs (8/1), The Gay Cavalier (25/1)

19:15 Chelmsford City - 6 April 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

HAIRDRYER hardly appeals as being well handicapped. Nevertheless, if his chances are based on fitness, track form, reliability and scope for further improvement, then he makes most appeal against rivals with something to prove. Alf Guineas won a weak Wolverhampton maiden and looks the type to improve over further and with more time. She will need to be fully wound up to land this so the market will be a guide to her wellbeing. The Gosden stable have struggled for winners over the past week. Magic City is feared with his trainer more than adept at getting more out of this type once they start winning, whilst Inniscastle Lad will get the run of the race up front. The former is not certain to get this trip whilst the topweight will be all the better for his latest run.
