Yard not really noted for its bumper winners, so this one's run at Newcastle on debut was very encouraging. Hasn't yet developed from there and will surely be doing better over further and with an obstacle to jump.

Anticipated improvement from his Ffos Las debut didn't materialise at Warwick last time, but he is a half-brother to a bumper winner and out of another one, so he is not one to dispense with just yet, though does need to improve to win this.
Debut point-to-point winner who was then bought for €32,000. Brother to a 2m hurdle winner and half-brother to two other jumps winners, one who landed a bumper. Excellent jumps pedigree and very interesting on debut for in-form yard.
Runner-up in a point-to-point last year and was pitched straight into a Listed bumper on his racecourse debut at Ascot in December. Wasn't up to that, but the form he showed there should see him involved in this weaker contest.
€65,000 private buy and a half-brother to a French 2m hurdle winner. Dam also won a French hurdle (2m1f) and is a half-sister to the bumper/2m4f hurdle winner Turcagua. Stable has a 15% strike rate in this discipline and a market check very much advised.

€145,000 purchase as a three-year-old. Dam was a maiden, though half-sister to 1m2½f/1m5f AQPS Flat/2m1f and 2m3f chase winner Fanie D'Angron. Was doing his best work at the finish when runner-up at Ffos Las on debut and looks likely to play a leading role today.

390,000 GNS yearling who didn't manage to make the racecourse before leaving Roger Varian for current yard for just 10,000 GNS in October. Very much a Flat pedigree to his page as you would expect and has to be one to watch on debut.

£22,000 purchase who is related to winners including being half-brother to a bumper scorer and whose dam was also half-sister to another. Good jumping pedigree. Yard not noted for many bumper winners, though have already struck here this season.

Cost €35,000 as a foal though not been through sales ring since. Full-brother to a useful 2m-2m4f hurdle and chase winner. Dam is an unraced full-sister to Gold Cup winner Kicking King and a half-sister to a bumper and 2m4f-2m6f jumps winner. Yard yet to have its first bumper winner.

£7,000 purchase last year and a half-brother to one who took a bumper on his second start and went on to win several races over both hurdles and in chases. Last of four on his Doncaster debut, but not a bad run nonetheless and should come on for that this time.

Won a 2m Irish point-to-point in January and bought privately last month. Plenty of Flat form in the pedigree and a very interesting newcomer who might relish this trip more than the majority and represents a yard running at a 30% strike rate in bumpers this season.

50,000 GNS yearling whose stock dropped to just 14,000 GNS when sold last year. Flat pedigree but plenty of stamina within that. Failed to see a racecourse when with Simon Crisford and a watching brief probably advisable on debut.

Unraced first foal by Misu Bond out of a Primo Valentino mare (Davana), who found the heavy ground at Newcastle beyond her capabilities on debut last month. Can continue her education here on a more appropriate surface.

Forecasts

Minella Warrior (9/4), Duke Debarry (5/1), Duc De Beauchene (5/1), Itsnonofurbusiness (7/1), New List (10/1), Frankie Rapper (10/1), Kalashnikov (12/1), Phantom Isle (16/1), Just Bobby (25/1), Danseur Du Large (25/1), Blottos (28/1), Motley Crew (50/1), Forbidding (66/1), Starfall (200/1)

17:20 Wetherby - 31 March 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Duke Debarry looks likely to be among those involved here but he does need to find more than he did last time to be winning this, while Dan Skelton saddles a pair of interesting contenders, with Itsnonofurbusiness appearing to be the pick, Minella Warrior, Duc De Beauchene and Motley Crew could all take a close hand, but the suggestion is to take a chance on NEW LIST at a price. Brian Ellison has won several bumpers here this season and this runner might have too much pace for plenty of these, while his 7lb claimer gets him in here off bottom weight.
  1. New List
  2. Itsnonofurbusiness
  3. Duc De Beauchene
