Well beaten from this mark last time out, but prior to that he had been on a roll. Very consistent performer as a rule and although he has never won here, he has made the frame on all three visits. Still has claims if you can forgive that latest effort.

Trying to break a lengthy drought again today, having not won for almost three years. Been threatening to get his nose back in front just lately, though another 1lb increment won't help his cause and could go well again without success.

Tremendous servant to connections with 15 career wins, including four over C&D. Good enough to win from a mark of 82 here two starts ago, but beaten from this mark last time and not sure he quite retains enough ability to win from the 90s at this stage of his career.

Runner-up four times here from six attempts, five of which were over this trip. 4lb higher than when winning at Sandown in July and has been beaten narrowly from 1lb lower on a couple of occasions, so needs to find a little bit of improvement for the fitting of first-time headgear.

C&D winner from 6lb lower 14 months ago, though is just 2lb higher than his best winning mark tonight. Usually thereabouts in defeat and that is the probable outcome again this time.

Ran up a hat-trick last year, including two C&D wins, the latter from 10lb lower. Has continued to run well in defeats from a mark of 87 and has edged up a little further again. Should be thereabouts back at a track he clearly enjoys.

Prolific winner in Italy who has gone well on all four starts in this country, winning a Southwell claimer in January. This will be his first handicap start in Britain a market check is probably best advised to gauge his chance.

Up 2lb for landing a Lingfield 7f handicap last time, where he had little to spare at the line, he should still go well and connections will be hoping that the return to this trip can help him find the necessary, Not ruled out.

Forecasts

Qaffaal (9/4), Take The Helm (4/1), Bold Prediction (6/1), Horsted Keynes (6/1), Quixote (6/1), Ice Royal (7/1), Chevallier (7/1), Loyalty (12/1), Regarde Moi (25/1)

18:50 Chelmsford City - 13 March 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Qaffaal looks likely to go well with Ryan Moore booked and back at this track, while Chevallier should be forgiven his first poor run for a long time last time out and can also get involved. Take The Helm regained the winning thread last time and in receipt of weight he can take a hand, though the suggestion is QUIXOTE, for whom a change of scenery and the application of headgear might just do the trick.
  1. Quixote
  2. Qaffaal
