Won five times for Malcolm Jefferson at around this trip on going from good to firm through to soft. Not yet obliged in five starts for current yard and has now slid to 13lb below his last winning mark from April 2015. Best chance for some time now dropped in class and a market check is advised.
2lb lower here than when scoring over hurdles at this venue (2m½f, good to soft) in December, so is entitled to a squeak, though his chase form is not quite as good and he remains a maiden in this discipline after 14 attempts.
Has been a fabulous. consistent servant to connections, winning 10 times from 2m up to 2m2½f on ground from good through to soft. Powers gradually on the wane, though is capable of being competitive from this sort of mark, which is 3lb higher than his last win.
Has shown some improvement this season, winning twice at Musselburgh (2m, good) and then at Hereford (2m, soft). Last two runs were over hurdles, but has claims back over fences from 2lb higher than that latest victory.
10lb lower than his best winning mark of a couple of seasons ago. Recent form not as inspiring and needs a sound surface to show his best, so one to take on today.

Forecasts
Crafty Roberto (11/8), Lake Chapala (5/2), Chestnut Ben (7/2), Bajardo (5/1), Gin Cobbler (9/1), Grey Life (10/1)
This would be a gimme for Grey Life if we could be sure that he retains a fair percentage of his ability, but that is not assured and so we will side with LAKE CHAPALA on his return to chasing, while Chestnut Ben should still be capable of having a say in a contest where there are doubts over most of them.
