No stranger to regulation fences and enjoyed big-race success in a former incarnation for Dr Richard Newland. He is also very adept at this level and shows no sign of his enthusiasm waning despite his advancing years. Needs to step things up from his recent efforts but a solid yardstick for a race of this nature.
Consistent at this level and won last year's renewal of this race in bloodless style under today's rider. Looks to have been primed in a similar vein this time around has a big chance of landing back-to-back wins if all goes to plan for him.
The trainer has bigger fish to fry at this time of year but has always traditionally had a good record in races of this nature. This fellow acts on most types of ground and shouldn't be found wanting for stamina if he comes through with a clean round of jumping. One for the shortlist in a competitive event.
Best when able to dominate and won't mind the ground. He had Grandioso well beaten at this course last time out and is a likely candidate to at least confirm his superiority over that rival. He can, however, be a tad unpredictable, as evidenced when he failed to complete at Exeter in his penultimate outing. Very capable, but the odds need to reflect his tendency to find one more determined in a finish.
A multiple winner in point-to-points but his form started to dip in handicaps last year. However, he may have found a new lease of life in this grade of contest. He revelled under the conditions to win his Hunter Chase debut in good style and, given his rider's 7lb claim, he has a sound chance of gong close again. One to bear in mind if the market is in his favour.
Never a factor in his latest outing, which was disappointing given the way he had rallied to win a mixed open point-to-point previously. His completion rate is also off-putting and others look more solid options this time around.
Doesn't have many miles on the clock but was readily brushed aside when he was last seen over these fences. He made a respectable return to action on the point-to-point course at Bangor and has won at this course in the past, so is no forlorn hope. However, his ability to take two quick runs in succession has to be taken on trust; he had previously been sidelined since September 2015.

Forecasts
Rebel Rebellion (9/4), Galway Jack (3/1), Toby Lerone (3/1), Penmore Mill (4/1), Grandioso (14/1), Night Alliance (25/1), Out Now (25/1), Siro Demur (33/1), Vincitore (80/1)
Last year's winner PENMORE MILL looks to have been given an ideal preparation for his repeat bid and, granted a clear round, he can take the beating. Night Alliance is an admirable character who can make this a good test, while Rebel Rebellion has to be feared as a threat on the pick of his efforts. Similar comments apply to Galway Jack, who will appreciate this grade of contest and is one to monitor closely in the betting. Grandioso is frustrating to follow but can also be a player in this company if he is on song.
1. Penmore Mill
2. Night Alliance
3. Galway Jack
