Having his second race in two days with connections encouraged to go for what looks a weak race. A Newcastle defeat at long odds-on (2/9fav) can be forgiven as he set a muddling pace up front. It would not take anything special to beat him but his fitness advantage and AW experience counts for a lot.
His second to Eaton Square last season is the standout piece of form. Subsequent efforts suggest a current BHA rating of 75 overrates him. He has shown pace from the gate though and might take some catching around here.
€8,000 yearling by Zebedee out of a dam who won on her racecourse debut. Stable do well with their three-year-olds at this time of the year. Worth a check in the market for a race that will take little winning.
Forecasts
Rag Tatter (8/13), Alfonso Manana (15/8), Ivor's Fantasy (10/1), Family Fortunes (25/1)
Alfonso Manana has been kept busy and will get few easier opportunities to open his account. Nevertheless it's easy to see RAG TATTER setting off in front and it remains to be seen if James Given's charge has what it takes to peg him back. It is doubtful Rag Tatter will land any handicaps off his current mark but he looks more straightforward than his main rival and for that reason he is the preferred option. Ivor's Fantasy looks the pick of the two debutants.
1. Rag Tatter
2. Alfonso Manana
3. Ivor's Fantasy
