Already being cut some slack by the handicapper, so has claims on the very pick of her form. However, she was well held in a similar race at Southwell last time out, and is hard to recommend on the bare evidence of that performance. It is interesting, however, to note that she races for her trainer's own syndicate, so the filly is still worth monitoring in the betting for a weak race like this.

Been kept very busy since leaving Richard Fahey to join his current trainer but has yet to land a telling blow for his new connections. The winner of a Listed race as a three-year-old, he is dangerously well handicapped on his old form. But he has been a pale shadow of his former self and may be better off in sellers and claimers these days.

Went close off the same mark over C&D on his penultimate start but reverted to type when readily brushed aside at Southwell last time out. The return to this course may help but he lacks consistency and is one for the brave only.

Clobbered by the handicapper as a youngster and it has taken a long while for the assessor to show him some leniency. However, the gelding's recent form has been poor and he basically needs to prove he still retains enthusiasm for racing before he can be put forward as a reliable option.

An unexposed individual who posted a solid effort on his handicap debut last time out. That was a marked improvement from his previous outings in maidens and, as runners from his yard are always interesting at this time of year, he's certainly worth noting in the betting. A solid each-way chance in this company.

In good form in low-grade handicaps and, given that he comes here on the back of a confidence-boosting success, he has to be respected. A 6lb higher mark does make life tougher this time around, and he will need to run somewhere near his career best if he's going to cope with the burden.

Won on the AW at Chelmsford last October but subsequently failed to sparkle under an adjusted rating. The way he faded last time out suggests the handicapper is still in control of his immediate destiny.

Has some solid C&D form to his name and, while he may not win very often, he does seem to reserve his best for this sharp track. One for the shortlist with his course experience despite a wide draw.

Just in behind Raise The Game last time out and, on the same terms, has work to do to reverse the form with that rival. Also has a poor wins-to-runs ratio of late, so looks one to be wary of just for now.

Struggling to find her level of late but is notably on a fair mark if she can recapture her best. Also interesting that she has a good record for making the frame over C&D, so no forlorn hope for an each-way steal.

Welsh Inlet14

A game and consistent mare, who will be making her 120th visit to a racecourse if she stands her ground. She is one of the more likely pacesetters and can at least help to cut out the early graft. However, this is a tougher race than the won she landed at Kempton at the start of this month, so she needs a little luck on her side if she is going to add to her tally. That said, she's in good heart and, as a previous C&D winner, she has to be respected.

Plenty to find with Welsh Inlet from their recent encounter and hard to see the form being reversed. The fitting of blinkers for the first time looks to be something of a final fling in an attempt to revive his interest.

Just 1lb out of the handicap but her very modest level of recent form of late makes it difficult to lay out a constructive case in her favour.

Just one win from 35 starts on the AW tells its own story. He posted one of his better efforts last time out but cannot be confidently nominated as one that will build on that performance.

14:20 Lingfield - 22 February 2017 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

Bill Turner is a trainer that consistently has his string primed at this time of year and he can strike again with RAISE THE GAME, who appeals as an unexposed individual that can cause a bit of a stir in this modest company. Major Muscari has solid claims at this level and also makes appeal, while Welsh Inlet should again run her race and will be a big threat to them all if she is allowed and easy time on the front end. 1. Raise The Game 2. Major Muscari 3. Miss Goldsmith
