Relatively rare jumping runner for his trainer, who has placed this son of Black Sam Bellamy to win three of his five starts, one of them coming over C&D last time. Has to shoulder a 10lb penalty for his two hurdles successes but showed no signs of stopping is improvement last time and will be tough to beat. Handles any ground with soft in the description.
Assessor has him rated 133 after two hurdles runs, winning at Ayr (2m, good to soft) and then finishing runner-up at Market Rasen. Bred to be a speedier type than the top weight and although he is 1lb better off with him than if this were a handicap, that speed may be blunted somewhat by what is forecast to be the softest ground he has raced on.
Beaten very early on at Wetherby and pulled up there on his racecourse debut, so plenty of questions to answer this time around.
Forecasts
Sam Spinner (2/5), Mr Monochrome (15/8), Reverant Cust (25/1), Our Morris (100/1), Emerald Thief (100/1), Rich Man Poor Man (200/1)
This really does look like a two-horse race and although Mr Monochrome is slightly favoured by the weights and may well improve, his speed may be blunted by the likely conditions, whereas SAM SPINNER has more stamina in the locker and is taken to make it a third hurdling success.
1. Sam Spinner
2. Mr Monochrome
3. Our Morris
