Continues in good form, but holds no secrets from the handicapper and has been raised a further 1lb to 77 despite being no match for Golden Opportunity over C&D last week. Renews rivalry on 4lbs better terms here, but that's unlikely to be enough to reverse the placings such was the authority of the winner.
A game winner of a 7f Wolverhampton maiden in November, with the form now staring to look fairly solid with runner up Doctor Bartolo winning since and the third placed Arnarson a runner up to the progressive Brittanic. However, has disappointed in both starts in nurseries since, and drops back in trip here to 6f from a mark 4lbs lower than what he started off from in this grade.
Keen early, but made smooth headway during the race, and was simply shaken up inside the final furlong to comfortably see off Marquee Club over C&D last week. Raised 5lbs to a mark of 75, and well capable of following up having seemingly taken well to this surface.
Maiden, but now a three time runner up from seven career starts, including the last twice over 7f on synthetics. A mark of 72 is perhaps not overly generous, and the first time visor goes on today as he drops back to 6f for the first time since July.
Won a weak Newmarket maiden in July (this trip), but showed little over further in two subsequent starts for Richard Hannon before joining James Given for £25,000 in November. Never able to get on terms on stable debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month, and drops back to 6f here from a 3lb lower mark on his first start on a straight track since that Newmarket success.
Maiden, who was placed on her first two starts as a juvenile (5f). Faced difficult tasks the last twice in a valuable sales race at the Curragh and in a fillies nursery at Newmarket (7f), and could be suited by this stiff test here, but tackles in-form rivals off a near four month break.
Forecasts
Golden Opportunity (11/10), Sidewinder (7/2), Marquee Club (6/1), Red Gunner (6/1), Mama Africa (8/1), Monoshka (28/1)
The first all Floodlit straight track only fixture at Newcastle gets underway with a rematch between two rivals who met on Tyneside just last week. GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY got the better of the consistent Marquee Club with so much authority on his first start on Tapeta, it's hard to imagine that a 4lb turnaround in the weights (for a length) will be anywhere near enough to reverse the placings. He meets other rivals here either dropping back in trip from racing over further or off a break and rates as the NAP material on tonight's eight race card.
1. Golden Opportunity
2. Marquee Club
3. Red Gunner
