7/4
Kingman colt who landed an above-average maiden on debut at Leicester (10f) in April and made light work of following up under a penalty at Kempton (11f) 38 days ago, quickening smartly. Remains with scope for plenty of improvement and big player now switched to handicaps.

11/2
New Bay colt who created a favourable impression when landing a 1m maiden here on debut last summer and looked potentially smart when following up under a penalty at Bath (1m) in the autumn. Has been absent since but he clearly retains potential now handicapping. Market can guide.

7/4
Improved to make a winning handicap debut at Newmarket (1m, good) in April and placed both starts since, running a cracker when third of 18 in handicap at Goodwood (9.9f) 16 days ago, staying on strongly and puling clear of rest. Still unexposed at this trip and another very much of interest.

9/1
Son of Ulysses who has done well since returning to action, completing a hat-trick with a career best in 5-runner handicap at Goodwood (1m) back in June, impressing with his determined attitude. This rates tougher but he remains unexposed at 1¼m and further progress distinctly possible.

15/2
Different proposition following wind surgery/gelding operation in handicaps, landing a share of the spoils at Lingfield (10f, AW) in June and overcame rise in class to follow up in good style at Newmarket (10f) 4 weeks ago. This demands more but he undoubtedly remains one to be positive about.

Forecasts

Fort George (7/4), Skimmer (7/4), Hopewell Rock (11/2), Night Step (15/2), Organ (9/1)

17:20 Newbury - 16 August 2025 - Racecard - Horse Racing - Sporting Life

A 3-y-o handicap packed full of potential with SKIMMER fancied to take another step forward. Harry Charlton's colt showed a smart turn of foot when making it 2-2 in novice company at Kempton 38 days ago and he remains open to above average improvement now his sights are set on handicaps. None of the quartet in opposition can be discounted however, with Fort George and Night Step possibly emerging as the chief threats.
