WILLIE MULLINS 2025/26 STABLE TOUR!

2:20 Wetherby – Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle (Listed) 2m

Well, here's a pretty kettle of fish. We had a look at this independently and both came to the same conclusion - that we want to take hot favourite Ammes on - but disagree what with. So we're going to back the pair of them to small stakes and take the jolly on that way, instead.

Rory is with Tralee Girl, a filly he thinks will take well to hurdles and it’s encouraging that she has been with Dan Skelton since September having raced for the same connections on the Flat for Michael Bell. Her dam Debdebdeb was a useful dual-purpose performer, winning on the Flat for Andrew Balding and over hurdles and fences for Dan Skelton and while Tralee Girl is yet to hit the same heights, she won three times in the spring and ran below form only once, when failing to see out 1¾m at Newmarket on her final outing for Bell in August.

Tralee Girl is a forward-going sort but settles well and has the right attributes to take to hurdling, so while she clearly needs to run to a useful level to beat previous winner Ammes, she’s certainly one to look forward to for her new stable. I’d expect her to have done plenty of schooling since leaving Michael Bell at the end of August and fitness is unlikely to be an issue, either. She may not have stayed on her latest Flat outing, but she gets 1½m well and her dam ended up staying 3m in time, which also augurs well for the future.

Whereas I'm with The Bellhop, who won quite takingly first time up at Fontwell, coming right away in the closing stages after a couple of good jumps late to seal it, and for all I think he might want a bit further than this - Fontwell was 2m1f and he looked more about stamina than speed, I thought the same about the talented but sadly ill-fated Porticello and it didn't stop him winning this for the Moores back in 2021.

4:05 Wetherby

Duel Au Soleil is Ben Pauling's sole runner on the card and can make a wininig handicap debut here. After two second-place finishes at Stratford in the spring, where he seemed to need further, he reappears in a race which looks to be an slightly easier task. Returning from a break and also wind surgery, which is a positive as far as Ben Pauling goes, showing a good level-stakes profit over the past two years as he does, he's got plenty in his favour in what appears a pretty winnable contest.
