Reaction of winning connections
Winning jockey Oisin Murphy told ITV Racing: “The cameraman usually knows and he never came off Seraph Gabriel so I thought I'd lost!
“He had a bad draw and he didn’t really travel but they slowed down in the straight and I’m delighted for the horse.
“Thank you to all the owners and trainers who have supported me.”
Joint-owner Gary Gillies added: “What a result! It doesn’t get any better than this – it's so special and it’s what you want as an owner.
“Someone tried to buy him last night and we were close [to accepting it], but what a feeling now!
“If that offer was on Tuesday the chances are that I would have taken it – but after our loser yesterday [Regal Ulixes] this lad was my last chance of a Royal Ascot winner, and I didn’t want to wait another year!”

Reaction of winning connections
Winning jockey Seamie Heffernan told ITV Racing: “I spoke to Patsy [Cosgrave, jockey] about the ride because I rode him in some work in Bahrain.
“He's a horse with a lot of talent and he can run hard and fast; at his age - his enthusiasm - it’s great.
“I knew where the winning post was and I needed it to come!
“When you get to my age you appreciate a lot in life and this was great – they're brilliant owners, and it’s a pleasure to be dealing with people and horses like this.”
Winning trainer George Baker added: “I know he broke Blue Point’s record here six weeks ago and that was a real thrill – and it got us into this race.
“It’s a shame for Pat [Cosgrave, jockey] – he's been the making of this horse.
“Seamie [Heffernan, jockey] was a great substitute – he loved the horse in Bahrain – and I knew when he was still in front two furlongs out that he would go again. But the last furlong took an age!
“He’s danced a lot of dances and has been a superstar for us.”

Reaction of winning connections
Winning jockey Kieran Shoemark told ITV Racing: “I allowed him to drift because I knew we were clear and he was always going forward with lots of momentum.
“He’s a horse with lots of class and Ed Walker has always held him in high regard.
“The stiff seven furlongs here with a good pace to aim at has really suited him.”
Winning trainer Ed Walker added: “It’s been a great week – we’ve had a few blips along the way - but we are thrilled.
“I’m delighted for the horse, we had a massive belief in him, and today everything just fell right.
“He’s a very fast horse but I just got it wrong – we thought he was a Guineas horse, but the stiff seven furlongs today was absolutely perfect.
“I’m very lucky that I have a great team at home and a great bunch of owners. Noble Champion’s owner Simon Sadler is giving all of his prizemoney from Ascot to pancreatic charities but all of our owners are important.”

Reaction of winning connections
Winning jockey James Doyle told ITV Racing: “I can’t take any credit for this – Jerome [Reynier, trainer] and his team told me all about him. They did a great job with him.
“They were very confident – Jerome said ‘don’t worry, if you lead then he will keep going’.
“You won’t get a more genuine horse than this – when the second came to him he kept finding.
“He was my banker of the week.”
Richard Brown, racing manager to winning owners Wathnan Racing, added: “This is the pinnacle - it's been an amazing week - every winner you cherish.
“That was a great horse race, the first two were a long way clear.
“We first had conversations [about buying the horse from Nurlan Bizakov] last April so it's been going on for a while.
“The division looked like it was open and he looked like a horse who could go to the top, over six or seven furlongs.
“We felt that a stiff six furlongs here on a straight track was ideal.
“He’s a very talented horse. We can look at races like the City Of York and the Maurice de Gheest next.
“James [Doyle, jockey] is world class – we've been a big admirer of him for a long time. A brilliant guy who is a real team player and a massive part of the team.”
Paddock Notes
1 Annaf - no fitness concerns, keen in first time cheekpieces and needs to be managed
12 Storm Boy - such a relaxed colt. Big framed, one of the largest chested in the field by a long way. Needed the run at the Curragh and whilst he has sharpened up, would expect to see him come forward again.

3 Grand Grey - very on toes and ready to go, fine but no better than that
Paddock Verdict
8 Lazzat and 15 Great Generation the best pair, honourable mentions to 16 Nighteyes and 10 Sajir

Reaction of winning connections
Winning jockey William Buick told ITV Racing: “We had one more roll of the dice – and what a partner.
“He’s a dream horse and any jockey who is fortunate in their career to have a horse like this is blessed; and I'm blessed.
“It erupted when he hit the front – he's a fan’s favourite. He’s been around the block, won £10 million in prizemoney, and is a top-class racehorse.
“You don’t find many with a will to win like he has – he always finds a way.”
Winning trainer Charlie Appleby added: “What more can I say? He’s our stable favourite and always will be.
“You just don’t come across horses like this much in your career. He’s been a huge honour and a credit to the team at home.
“It was a fantastic ride by William [Buick, jockey] – he knows him so well. He’s a battler and would have found again if they’d got to his girth.
“It’s been a great week for Godolphin and I’m just glad that I got one in the end – it's a monkey off my back.”
Paddock Notes
7 Ghostwriter - always presents well and has filled out as a four year old. A real eye catcher aesthetically but no better or worse than when seen before.

5 Candleford - has become very warm and sweaty, relaxed enough but others appeal more
10 Space Legend - on toes but similar behaviour seen before, come on plenty from Chester

2 Al Riffa - big, scopey sort with a good level of fitness for frame, likeable
8 Palladium - two handlers and on toes, round, well built colt, needs to be managed. Getting very overexcited now
6 Epic Poet - lean, whippy sort, looks in good order
Paddock Verdict
Can’t fault Rebel’s Romance from a paddock perspective but 12 Tabletalk and 10 Space Legend catching eye as alternatives

Reaction of winning connections
Winning jockey James Doyle told ITV Racing: “He wasn't doing much late on. On debut he was in front and then had a battle so it kept him honest.
“He was waiting for them to come again today – he was pricking his ears – and he would have found more if they’d come to him again.
“It’s always hard to say how good he is – he's bred to be good – but we will live the dream.
“Oisin [Murphy] told me he was good – he sent me the rocket emoji when I asked him what he was like!”
Winning trainer Andrew Balding added: “I’m so pleased. This horse felt like our best chance at the start of the week. He’s so laid back – he's an absolute dude.
“He’s had to battle hard but he’s done it well. This was always the plan.
“He should get further but he’s not short of speed. He could be a Guineas horse – he's got a bright future.”
Paddock Notes
8 Moments Of Joy - knocks your eye out from a physical point of view, big filly who is very reminiscent of her sire in colouring. Neighing in the pre-parade but not a concern. Has settled now with company.
6 Waterford Castle - very fit but probably a touch sharp, a little agitated and on his toes, will continue to learn for the experience
3 Tailgunner Joe - lovely physical stamp, well balanced and plenty of size about him. Might sharpen up a touch for the run but similar to the filly from the yard in the Queen Mary - nice demeanour
1 Brave Hunter - another colt who is a little on his toes and on edge, plenty of size and scope. Likeable sort who will learn from the experience here. Second handler added
4 Thesecretadversary - lovely, deep chested colt, wears red hood but good attitude, likeable
2 Humidity - easy walker, uses his body well and has been very relaxed despite the red hood. Another lovely type.
7 Zooter - lacking a touch of quality compared to some of these, still quite raw and unfurnished, one for down the line rather than here
5 Treanmor - a real sprinting type rather than some of these leggier athletic types, compact and together
9 Venetian Lace - late to paddock, warm but wearing mesh rug, having a good look around and still babyish, will learn for this
Paddock Verdict
8 Moments Of Joy and 4 Thesecretadversary the best pair
