Simon Holt best bets for Haydock and Chelmsford on Tuesday

Our man has fancies at Haydock and Chelmsford on Tuesday including a handicap debutant for Sir Mark Prescott.

Recommended bets:

SIR Mark Prescott had a winner and a good second last week, and GLEN FORCE is expected to relish the step up to seven furlongs in the Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap at Haydock (2.15) on Tuesday.

This well-related son of Gleneagles, a half brother to three well above average winners, defied odds of 20-1 when second on his debut at Newcastle (6f) in November staying on strongly behind the 81-rated King Ragnar.

Glen Force returned to the same course and distance about a fortnight later and, having got a bit outpaced, he was rallying well in the closing stages taking third behind the promising Dulas and Nehaall (winner next time). That race appeared to be run at a modest pace and the first two were always prominent before kicking clear.

With the all-weather winner Mountain Dream likely to ensure a stronger gallop this time, Ryan Tate's mount (running off 79) should travel a bit better and looks open to plenty of improvement over this extra furlong.

Another trainer who has his string in good form is Shaun Keightley who has won with his first two runners since the re-start, and could have another decent chance with WATERPROOF in Division One of the Rank's Green Handicap at Chelmsford (7.45).

The son of Pour Moi is no superstar but this is an ordinary race and he looks interesting stepping up to a mile-and-three-quarters. A winner over hurdles at Fakenham in January (his hurdles rating is some 70lb ahead of his Flat mark), Waterproof's last two good runs have come with a change of headgear - finishing second when fitted with cheek-pieces at Kempton last September and when donning a visor on this course in October.

The cheek-pieces are back on here and, with the stable's runners clearly firing, a bold bid can be expected.
