CAJOLE – 1.15 Ascot (NAP)
CAJOLE is proving to be a very consistent filly who has some solid form to her name, travelling better than most in the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown last time, but seeming not to get home.
However, she proved herself on easier ground, travelling better than most, and the winner and runner-up, Lady of Spain and Blue Bolt, are well fancied for the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Cajole had finished closer to Blue Bolt when finishing a length second to her in a listed event earlier in the season, and before that she ran a cracker in the Sandringham at the Royal meeting at this course.
She hasn’t run over seven furlongs since her debut, but this strong-travelling type is well worth another crack at the trip, likely to relish it at this track with its stiff finish back in Listed company.
COLORI FOREVER – 2.05 Newmarket
COLORI FOREVER is one of the least exposed in this valuable event, but he created a very good impression when making a winning debut at Yarmouth in August, and early signs suggest he's above average.
He beat the reopposing Rosa Inglesa easily on that occasion, impressing with how he travelled into contention and displaying a smart turn of foot to go clear before dossing a little when in front on his own.
Those in behind have franked the form since, the runner-up, third and fourth all winning next time, while the timefigure adds further substance, too. Colori Forever is open to a fair bit of improvement now and his debut form already entitles him to be competitive at these weights.
ARDISIA – 3.20 Redcar
There is rain forecast at Redcar during Friday and the potential for more Saturday morning which will soften ground which is already described as good, good to soft in places, and that will very much suit the Hugo Palmer-trained ARDISIA.
He’s a four-time winner already this year, but his best performance came when tackling soft ground for the first time at Ayr a couple of weeks ago, turning a nursery into a procession and appearing to relish the ground.
They came home at fairly big intervals in behind, but he sluiced through the mud, and looked better and better the further he went, very strong at the line. The timefigure was also good and this probably isn’t as competitive as the numbers suggest.
Ardisia has something to find with Song of The Clyde on their running in a valuable sales race at York two starts back, but he was doing all of his best work at the finish under faster conditions, and that rival isn’t sure to want these likely softer conditions.
BINTAZZO – 5.45 Newcastle
BINTAZZO has shown just fair form in three starts so far, but she’s a well-bred filly who cost €300,000 as a yearling, and better can best expected now sent handicapping.
All of her starts have been at around a mile so far, and she run her best race to date when hitting the frame at Windsor last time, shaping like a horse who is in need of a bigger test of stamina.
Her pedigree also suggests she’ll excel over middles distances, so this significant step up in trip is in her favour, and she is bred to be much better than an opening mark of 64. Bintazzo is the least exposed of these and it will be no surprise if she progresses past all of them.
MY MARGIE – 6.30 Wolverhampton
MY MARGIE is a much better performer on the all-weather, her record standing at four wins from eight starts on an artificial surface, and she proved at least as good as ever in defeat at Southwell last time.
She was beaten by the narrowest margin from a back-to-form solid operator, headed only in the final 50 yards and rallying to the line. Her sole effort at this track resulted in an impressive course and distance win and she is one to remain positive about having won from this mark earlier in the year.
