Timeform highlight two horses of interest at Haydock and Doncaster this evening.
TACTICAL PLAN - 20:00 Haydock
Time will probably show that TACTICAL PLAN was unlucky to bump into a smart sprinter last time despite it being only a class 4 handicap that he contested at Ayr earlier this month. Fellow three-year-old Binhareer, trained by William Haggas, was an impressive winner and Tactical Plan was no match for him in staying on for second, but Ed Dunlop’s gelding should be capable of going one better returned to further here.
Tactical Plan was twice successful in the mud over seven furlongs last autumn, so any rain that falls at Haydock during the day will be all to the good as far as his chances are concerned.
BELGRAVIAN - 20:45 Doncaster
Doncaster’s two-mile handicap can go to one of a trio of three-year-olds at the foot of the weights, with Andrew Balding’s progressive BELGRAVIAN appealing most.
He was a course winner in first-time cheekpieces last month over a mile and a half and then stepped up again, despite not being seen to best effect, when two lengths second to Deep Water Bay at Chelmsford over another furlong. The return to this galloping track will suit, and he’s very much of interest again with further progress in the offing.
