Smart operator in his pomp for Richard Hannon earlier in career but well below that level on belated return over hurdles for Neil King back in 2020 and has another lengthy absence to overcome here for new yard.

Successful on return at Doncaster (10.2f) last spring prior to good placed efforts at Thirsk/York. Proved more miss than hit thereafter though and whilst he ran better than on his return at Kempton last month, he does have a bit to prove.

Largely progressive staying handicapper who posted a career-best effort to score at Kempton (12f) last June. Creditable fifth in Rosebery handicap on return and that should have put him spot on ahead of this.

Useful 1m2f winner for Jessica Harrington back in 2020. Confined to just 2 starts for Roger Varian last year not really threatening over 14f here at the Royal meeting. May need some respite from the assessor. Yard debut.

Quirky sort who typically carried head high but that didn't prevent him adding to recent AW wins back on turf at Nottingham (14f) 11 days ago, well served by the emphasis on speed. This understandably tougher, though.

Useful handicapper who won here (2m) and Goodwood in August before posting a good third back at Goodwood in September. Yet to win from mark this high and he may find the trip on the short side ahead of return.

Dual winner at up to 10f 6 months apart for Andrew Balding earlier in career. Never threatened in trio of starts for David O'Meara last year but did run respectably when fourth on return/yard debut at Thirsk (12f, soft) last month. May come forward from that.

Winner at Windsor (10f) 12 months ago and went close on numerous occasions from higher marks thereafter, runner-up in Mallard at Doncaster in September. Too free/badly hampered on return at Musselburgh (14f) 21 days ago but better expected from sliding mark here.

Dual winner for Roger Charlton in 3-y-o season who has failed to beat a rival in 2 starts for present stable on AW. Not the easiest to assess on that basis back on turf.

Progressive as a 4-y-o, winning pair of handicaps at up to 11.8f in the spring and consistent in defeat thereafter, seventh in November handicap final start. Remains relatively low-mileage so worthy of respect on return.

Progressed nicely in line with step up in trip, gaining fourth win from fifth start at around 12f in ready fashion at Kempton in March. Not seen to best effect in Rosebery handicap and not discounted back on turf from this mark.

Useful Flat winner for Ralph Beckett who scored over hurdles in October and ran a cracker to be beaten only by an unexposed rival for new yard at Epsom (12f) 18 days ago. On a fair mark if building on that.

Completed a quick hat-trick at up to 14f under this rider last summer and ran well in valuable C&D handicap in September. Never figured at Newmarket (12f) final start but better showing not ruled out arriving fresh.

4-y-o boasting a positive profile, overcoming a pace bias to double career tally at Wolverhampton (12.2f) in November in a race that has worked out well. Highly likely there is more to come back on turf.

Didn't cut much ice over hurdles for Paul Nicholls and distinctly mixed record in handful of Flat starts for new yard.

Kingman gelding who confirmed previous promise to open account at third attempt in a Wolverhampton maiden (12.2f) in December. Reappears with yard going nicely and type to progress further now handicapping.

HMS PRESIDENT knocked firmly on the door in similar company from higher marks last term and with a reappearance spin under his belt, he could well be worth chancing to put it all together back down in trip. Screaming Petrus and Duke of Verona are a pair of low-mileage 4-y-os who can rate higher still on turf this year and are feared, along with Flyin' Solo.
