Timeform highlight two horses of interest at Wolverhampton this evening.
GREY SOUL - 19:00 Newcastle
GREY SOUL failed to make the anticipated improvement following a gelding operation when beating only three rivals home on handicap debut at Southwell, but he still looked a work in progress, the penny dropping late on and he finished with running left.
He shaped better than the bare result at Kempton last time, too, given too much to do in a race where the pace generally held up. There is still further improvement in him and, dropped another 2lb in the weights, with first-time blinkers fitted, he's expected to be more competitive.
RAMBUSO CREEK - 19:30 Newcastle
RAMBUSO CREEK lost his way for Kevin Ryan last season, dropping down the weights as a result, and he ran his best race for current connections when hitting the frame over six furlongs at Southwell last time.
That was his first run for five months and he was unlucky not to finish closer, not getting the smoothest run through, but a quick look at his closing sectional means he can be marked up for that effort.
He was the fastest horse over the last three furlongs by around half a second and, dropped a further 1lb since, he can prove himself on a good mark with the return to five furlongs not expected to pose a problem.
