Trainer Bob Baffert won his fourth Breeders' Cup Classic as Authentic made every yard of the running under veteran rider John Velazquez.
Authentic claimed Kentucky Derby glory when beating Tiz The Law at Churchill Downs earlier in the season and he was much the best on this occasion, sprinting into an early lead and dictating matters thereafter.
Having allowed the 9/2 winner a breather down the back, Velazquez asked his mount to stretch when swinging off the final bend and for all the challengers lined up, Authentic would not be denied and only needed to be punched out in the closing stages.
Tiz The Law wasn't able to show his best having found himself trapped on the inside rail for much of the race and it was left to Improbable to give Authentic most to think about, but he was unable to lay a glove on his impressive stablemate in the final stretch.
Outsiders Global Campaign and Tacitus ran above expectations to finish third and fourth behind the Baffert trained 1-2 but having raced prominently, Maximum Security could only manage fifth.
