This fixture would have a totally different look about it had Cardiff slipped eight points behind Brighton during the week, instead they're just two points from safety and the Cardiff City Stadium will be absolutely bouncing come kick-off as they look to continue their great escape.
Fixtures with Fulham and Palace probably offer better chances for points, but the belief that result in Brighton has given the squad, and the fans, means they'll be a dangerous side for Liverpool to face after a Champions League week and once more playing after Man City at the weekend.
These Reds do look like the real deal this season though, and if they want to pip City to the title they have to pass tests like an away day at a team fighting for survival. They'll no doubt dominate the ball but they'll have to be prepared for tough tackling, energy and set pieces from Neil Warnock's side.
With the form they're in, though, you can't really advise backing anything other than a Liverpool win, even if they have to grind out another result like they've done plenty of times already this season.
Prediction: Cardiff 0-2 Liverpool
The Bluebirds have lost all ten of their games against the top six, conceding over three goals a game on average, they've also lost eight of the last nine at home against top half sides so it's fair to say they have a problem dealing with quality teams. The Reds have conceded in their last four away from home but this could be the chance for them to get back to keeping clean sheets.
Best bet:
Only Huddersfield have scored fewer goals than Cardiff and Liverpool still hold the league's best defence despite conceding in the last few games, so it could be an uphill battle for the hosts.
Goals:
Never much value in Liverpool's front three scoring, but given that Cardiff don't score too many and with Salah looking right back at his best then he could well manage to score more himself than the hosts can muster.
