Frankfurt 5-1 Bayern Munich

Frankfurt 5-1 Bayern Munich

We'll start in the Bundesliga, where Bayern were hammered by Frankfurt.

There was a major upset when Frankfurt secured success in the 2018 DFB Pokal final with victory over Bayern, but this game surely surpasses that.

The defending German champions were dealt a huge blow when Jerome Boateng was shown a straight red just nine minutes into the contest.

Frankfurt capitalised with two goals in eight minutes, although Robert Lewandowski gave Munich hope before the break.

The home side went on the ascendancy with a storming second-half performance as goals from David Abraham, Martin Hinteregger and Goncalo Paciencia wrapped up the 5-1 win.

The result lead to Niko Kovac's sacking as head coach of the Bavarian side; Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag have been reported to be contenders to replace him.
